That's just silly.

Dixie cannot protect the ball when playing Highlands, and then they play scared once Highlands gets one good lick on them. If Dixie could get over the mental hump, their games could be much more respectable. Wilson was the only one out there not playing scared, and he got nailed twice with helmet-to-helmet hits (which might explain something, because when looking at him on the sidelines, he looked lost). Offensively, I thought they had an effective game plan. Wilson did force the throw on the INT, but other than that, they went with the short to intermediate routes, which were open. However, the receivers dropped way too many passes tonight, or when they caught it, they couldn't hold onto it.

 

Defensively, they still struggle to tackle. The DBs give 12 yards at the line, and they still get beat long. :idunno:

 

Highlands was fast as expected on both sides of the ball. Towles will be a good one. You could see the inexperience tonight, but he has a strong arm and good size as mentioned.

It's silly, but it's a legit question. St. X only scores 7, Dixie scores 9? But then St. X goes over and looks like a different team against Elder. Not taking away from HHS, they won it and deserve it. But it lends credibility to the idea that St. X may have been flat last week and HHS did exactly what they needed to do to take advantage of that (Which is fine, since that is what good teams do).

 

Dixie is not better than St. X to answer the question, but it certainly is interesting to think about it. Is any team that scored more than 7 against HHS this season better than St. X? Not neccessarily. From what I heard HHS defense was just stellar that night.

Good win for the Birds. Towles looked pretty good. Threw some nice passes but you can tell the timing is off. Nothing practice won't cure. Defense continues to swarm and the running game behind that o-line is impressive. Lots to like in what could have been a trap game.

Yes, he played quite a bit. It was effective, however, he's not quite the passer. He overthrew 14, which would've been an easy TD, and he underthrew a receiver that was picked.

Yeah, passing doesn't seem to be a strength. Thanks for the info, and I think it could definitely be an effective option with the way he runs, but his passing could hurt them.

It could be very effective in goal-line situations with a dump pass to a TE. Also, if he could sell run a little more, it could be effective. His 2 passes were obvious pass plays. The pick was just a mistake throwing into double coverage, something I'm sure he'll learn not to do.

If Towles had thrown 6 touchdowns passes tonight you will would still be very critical of him. Not quite sure what your angle is.

 

See all the post below yours. He is a talented kid but still learning. He looked good tonight much better than he did against Beech and Boone in back up duty. All I have been saying is he is not going to step right in and replace Bardo with the learning curve. I thought Bardo was the most important player on O. However, the running attack is too good not to carry this team and Towles is talented enough to keep the ship sailing in the right direction.

Teams that get their butt kicked always look flat. Forget about the last 20 years of N. Ky. teams vs. Cincinnati. This year's Highlands team is that good. I have been posing the question since early in the summer - is this the best Highlands team ever? Every week they take another step toward proving they are.
