Even without Bardo, Highlands is two TD's better than Ryle and SK.

Congrats to Highlands for the win over Dixie!!! Towles started out the game the way I thought he would with it being his first Varsity start. Once he settled down he did a fine job and got better as the game went on. I always thought Patrick would make a good QB but more importantly he is a fine young man!!! Good job Birds keep it up, one game at a time!!!

 

 

 

Agreed. I thought Towles looked very, very good. Showed nice composure. Those folks hoping the Birds will be severely weakened with Bardo out may be very disappointed.

Towles played awesome period! Furthermore he was one of five varsity players that was at the 10 am JV game on Saturday at Dixie standing on the sidelines to root for his fellow players and friends. He was the first guy in the end zone for every touchdown Friday night to extended congratulations to his teammate. There's absolutely no doubt that he understands his leadership duties as the QB. It is going to be a great ride for HHS football the next three years.

The confidence in Towles is growing and growing. Highlands has lots of weapons and will be tough to stop. The only thing that seems to stop the Bird's offensive drives is themselves.

Hopefully, the two teams will have the opportunity to play again in the playoffs. Given a positive frame of mind, there's no reason Dixie can't play head to head with Highlands. When this year's class of Senior's were Freshman, both teams were undefeated and Highlands won in a close game that could have gone either way. This year's class of Sophomore's, Dixie beat Highlands when they were Freshman.

 

Although, Dixie needs to practice their tackling if they want to have ANY chance!!!!!

I was thinking of the bolded part yesterday. That was a very good freshman team. Add to that the fact that most are 2nd and 3rd year starters and I am wondering why they aren't more successful as seniors.:confused:

1. Dixie cannot stay close to HHS regardless of the qb. If they were ever going to stay close it was this game.

 

2. Using freshman score results as benchmarks is a waste of time.

Maybe looking at Freshman games isn't a valid benchmark, but it has to be in the back of the player's minds.

Fine.

 

However, you can't use it as a reason why the game should have been closer 3 years after the fact.

 

Freshman ball is too easy to be dominated by one strong skill player. That's much harder at the high school level.

From what I have read, it seems to me that Dixie has been killed by turnovers. They need to get their turnovers under control to win the tough games.
