  1. Since it was a team win, lets add all contributors who were not only major contributors to this game but all games throughout the season. Add McGhee, Rosenhagen,Trapp, Houston, Napier, Hollingsworth, Rouse, Sheehan, Gall and Schultz to the "team win". And least we forget that this jv team stepped it up when Towles was called to varsity duty, but with whom they will join forces again next year.
  2. Congrats to the entire HHS JV team! It showed that it was a team effort. They prepared their new QB prior to the game and he did a nice job. The jv team has played great this year, this being their 3rd QB of the season. How about the extra point kicker who hadn't kicked all year, the two offensive linemen that made huge holes play after play, the receiver that made more out of plays than was there, the two backs that gained several hundred yards, and the center that played in his first jv game.
  3. For HHS fans there are some great photos of your boys on the local Fort Thomas guy's website.
  4. The HHS coaching staff for making the 99 yard pass call on 1st down after being pinned to the 1 inch line on the Cov Cath punt.
  5. Towles played awesome period! Furthermore he was one of five varsity players that was at the 10 am JV game on Saturday at Dixie standing on the sidelines to root for his fellow players and friends. He was the first guy in the end zone for every touchdown Friday night to extended congratulations to his teammate. There's absolutely no doubt that he understands his leadership duties as the QB. It is going to be a great ride for HHS football the next three years.
  6. To all the players on HHS that read this blog. You have a lot of support behind you and you guys are awesome. Get it done! Anyone that truly supports you day in and day out would vote for you in this poll. Go Birds!
  7. Of course there have been better athletes at Highlands...HHS has turned out more great ones than anyone in the state. But Beau was certainly athletic...definitely not the most athletic, but certainly could run, jump and throw with most anyone. IMO there were few tougher to walk through those doors. Ever since Tuff Duff very few kids have played football & basketball. Anyway if you want to watch him play, his teams are still winning championships in the Sunday Night Basketball league at the Y.:thumb:
  8. I believe Newport and Dayton bring back the most experience. NCC should be fine with Pangallo and Geisler. Calvary and Beechwood are rebuilding. Bellevue will play hard. Villa has Bryan and Shue?... Not sure about Holy Cross. Ludlow returns a couple kids (Can't remember big kids name who shoot 3 ball) St. Henry will be disciplined of course- Don't know about Holy Cross. Am I forgetting anybody?
  9. It is true Beau worked very hard... countless hours shooting at the Armory. It was not as though the cupboard was bare talent wise though. He was always one of the biggest, fastest and strongest kids growing up. He was coordinated, dribbled and passed well. I believe he led the 9th Region in 3-point shooting his senior year, and averaged a double/double in points/rebounds. I know he lettered 3 years and had several different dunks he could throw down as a sophomore...and he was just over 6ft. 2 I remember one of the baseball coaches wanting him to pitch...I think he threw in the high 80's. And when he played Jr. and Middle league football he caught anything thrown his way, usually taking several guys to bring him down. The thing that will set him apart though, is his competitive fire. I've never seen anyone want to win more than he does. Ever. He does a good job building relationships as well. I think everyone should pull up a chair and enjoy the show that is about to begin! http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/ubb/popcorn.gif
  10. If you are a talented 8th grader and you deserve to make the team, there is no doubt JB would put the kid on the team. However, although the opportunity was offered, absolutely no 8th grader took the opportunity to work out with the team the past couple of months. Coach JB specifically stated at the parent's baseball team meeting that he want players with not only talent, but those that give effort and leadership. JB has the same philosophy as the HHS football program. Tryouts are next week. Those that "deserve" to make the team, will make the team.
  11. You heard right. Pat has a great arm. He looked impressive yesterday!
  12. Both Brossart and the Camels are good teams with a lot of high quality athletes and very good coaching staffs! These Birds are wishing all of you guys good luck!
  13. Bingo! Michael Porter gives 110%, but in watching the game last night, every time (but once) he brought the ball down court, he stopped short of the 3 point line. Miss. State backed off of him and guarded UK guys in the paint, didn't gaurd Porter, and gave him any 3 point shot he wanted. We need a point guard bad!
  14. Austin Collinsworth, a senior this year. How fun this year is going to be! Congrats to Austin, a great football family.
  15. Great athletes, great students, great parents. This team will be real good!
