I thought Wilson, the Dixie quarteback was brilliant. He was under a heavy rush all night and avoided some sacks with some very neat last ditch moves. He used excellent judgment concerning when to pass and when to run and turned chicken poo into chicken salad on a number of plays. He also held onto the ball despite being gang tackled and having numerous hands trying to strip the ball. His throws were mostly on the money and those that were not were made either while on the dead run or with a hand right in his face. His receivers tended to catch the ball and then cough it up as pointed out elsewhere on this thread. Without him there would have been a running clock early in the game.

I would also like to say something about the referee who ignored the player who ran to the pile up and kicked a player in the back. It happened straight down the 50 and the referee was standing within 5 yards of the play. If he saw it and chose to ignore it, he needs to find something else to do on Friday night. If he did not see it, I wonder what he was watching if not the play right in front of him. The Highlands crowd certainly saw it and let him know their opinion. By the way, I am a Beechwood fan who was neutral and just enjoying a football game on a perfect Friday night.

I hope the Dixie players keep their head up as the mistakes they make are correctable and they do not come from a lack of talent.

I thought this type of penalty usually resulted in an ejection? The player that committed the foul stayed in the game. The play you're referring to took place in the 3rd quarter. Yes, it was obvious and right in front of the referee.

:madman:Apparently there was alot going on underneath the piles during the tackles the fans couldn't see. Would have needed a camera underneath the pile to really know who started what. Normally you only see the second retailiation blow.

Man I must of missed the punch and the (stepped on) penalty committed by HHS. Because there wasn't one!!! I have watched the replay a couple of times and there were some things that I wasn't aware of and not so sure I would approve of. Get back to the huddle and get ready to play the next play. Sure there might of been some extra pushing and shoving going on after plays. It happens.... But there is a big difference between the above mention and what really happened....IMO. Game is over and it's time to move on to the next opponent.

Congrats to the youngster for coming in and taking over for Bardo. Its tough to be a sophomore on a senior-dominated team and step in to the qb slot.

Dixie has alot of talent on their team. But the Bluebird defense is so fast and physical, its hard to get anything going or to find a weakness. After that being said, the Bluebird swarm like bees to ball. On a couple of plays they had seven players around the ball, and it seems as if the killer bees are getting better. good luck and get ready for the colonels.

I was thinking of the bolded part yesterday. That was a very good freshman team. Add to that the fact that most are 2nd and 3rd year starters and I am wondering why they aren't more successful as seniors.:confused:

 

Being that it's possible for members of three past freshman teams to make up the starting 22 for any given team, you might check the results of the other two years. That might have a thing or two to do with it.:ylsuper:

Thats correct. And there are also a few others from that freshman team last year in Pike, Cohorn, and Seth Bruns getting varsity time in at Dixie this year. Good to see Drake Bruns playing at the varsity level.:walk::ylsuper:

I don't think the True boys were ever considering Dixie. Devin (42) and Drake (27) Bruns were on Dixie's freshman team last year.

Drake Bruns has really turned out to be a good defensive back and is a hard hitter.

I know this is probably stirring the pot, but why did Bruns leave Dixie to go to Highlands?
