Featured Replies

Now that people are traveling to the different games, what teams have the nicest football fields/facilities in the Commonwealth?

All 3 Oldham County Schools have very nice facilities.

South has a Turf field.

North has a completely new complex, very special.

Oldham New bleachers, Press Box, Concession Stand and Restrooms, Field House, and I believe they re-did the field as well.

All three top notch!

In the past 2 years, I've attended 2 youth games and 2 high school games at Dixie. IMO, the nicest facility in NKY - Simon Kenton's is definitely a close 2nd.

Simon Kenton still has the old away stands with old press box and original concession stand and bathrooms.

Dixie gutted everything 4 years ago so everything is new. It's also heavily used for track meets as well in the spring, hosting the A and AA regional track meets and blows away every other facility I've seen for functionality for the fans. I liked it better than U of L's track facility.

Dixie's whole campus is just outstanding not only the track and Football field. The new baseball, softball and practice fields are top notch all the way. I like the way the entire campus is laid out as far as :thumb:fan friendly and easy to get in and out of. :thumb:

For all-around facitlities, small college like, Dixie is probably one of the best in NKY. I also like Ryle's facility, but you feel like you're a mile away from the field. For atmosphere, you can't beat Highlands IMO. You sit just a few yards off the field. However, if you take just a short trip across the river, nothing beats the Pit.

In addition to having the best facilities in NKY the football playing surface is the best in NKY IMO also.

Agree with everything you said.

Dixie and Ryle have the best facilities in NKY.

Highlands is unique and has atmosphere.

Glad we are playing on...I believe the best grass high school football field in Kentucky tonight (Danville). For this place to be as old as it is, It's still one of the best in the state for seating, parking, and field.

What type of grass is on the field?

The visitors side at Dixie is awful.. You can't see over the heads of the football players. The stands sit way to low..Everything else at Dixie is top notch though..

From what I've heard, SK will be adding to their current facility. If what I've heard is accurate, they will be replacing the home stands with a larger grandstand with a new pressbox on the home side. I've also heard a new fieldhouse would be built on the opponents side, with two floors and an indoor 50yd field.

With that being said, I like what Dixie has done with their complex but the visitor's side is rediculously small, other than that it's beautiful. I also enjoy attending a Ryle game but was very dissappointed to see they won't allow you to stand on the hill in the south endzone any longer. I thought that was a very good vantage point.
