Dixie and Ryle have the best facilities in NKY.

 

Highlands is unique and has atmosphere.

Seriously, I LIKE Highlands' field - it's a great place to watch football - but it's a terrible place to come as a visiting announcer. Super-helpful folks up there, but they won't let you in the press box. Supposedly has something to do with it not being safe??? If it's not safe, how many years are going to go by before they fix the thing????

 

Have to broadcast from a patio on the back of the school building. OK - so long as the weather's nice. I've been there when it's been raining and when it's been bitter cold...lots of fun with electronic equipment.

 

Actually, I don't mind going there - but not being able to accommodate visiting media in a press box drops it way down in my book of "top facilities"...

I think Montgomery County has a nice football complex. It is still grass (for now). Alot of talk about going to turf.

Along the same lines, what 2A team has the nicest facilities?

 

Having been to most 2A schools west of Bowling Green and a couple east of BG, I haven’t seen any that are that great, Fort Campbell included. While most are adequate and have good points and bad, I haven’t seen any that just blow me away. Are there any really nice 2A stadiums/facilities out there?

Maybe you just don't have enough priority. :lol: I'm sure they do get everyone in the press box that they feel needs to be in there.

Along the same lines as the nicest facilities in Kentucky, here are some of the areas where many fields/stadiums that I’ve been too could improve:

 

The Field – bad drainage, divots, ruts, fence or objects too close

Locker Room – too small, none for visiting team

Scoreboard – too small, not working, can’t see

Bleachers/Seating – visitor side too small or none, too old, broke

Concession Stand – Not big enough, one for each side is nice, selection

Restrooms – None on visitor side, too small, dirty

Parking – Not enough, need 4 wheel drive to park in, too far

Press box – too small or none at all

PA system – too weak, too distorted, obnoxious announcer

 

If a facility has none or almost none of these issues it would likely be in the top tier as stadiums goes.

Letcher County Central is a beautiful field and brand new.

The visitors side at Dixie is awful.. You can't see over the heads of the football players. The stands sit way to low..Everything else at Dixie is top notch though..

 

FWith that being said, I like what Dixie has done with their complex but the visitor's side is rediculously small, other than that it's beautiful.

 

I'd have to agree. However, from what I've been told, this had to do with local building codes. With it's proximity to the school, the stands could not go any higher. I've heard this from a few different people, but I do not know if this is 100% factual.

For what its worth you can give me Log Mountain any time. Bell Co's facilities are getting a little aget on them, but they have a nice new paint job on the outside and its still a great atmosphere for a game. One thing I am not a big fan of is having a track around the field. I'd like for it to be closer anywhere you go, but it is a necessity at most places just like it is at Bell Co.
