Our FCA meetings were in a church!! Blasphemy!!

Kids and parents signed a permission form when they filled out the KHSAA forms for thier kid to play and be included in trips involving the team.

The school bus, who paid for gas, whether there was a steak dinner, dead teammate, whether there were written permission slips, what FCA does or does not do, etc. and all other issues are red herrrings to the primary issue, which is, simply stated, were the parents of the players in question informed directly that their son was going to be taken to a church revival?

 

"Make sure you tell your parents," doesn't cut it.

 

"I didn't know it was a revival" doesn't cut it.

 

If he didn't do those things, and the super didn't either, they should be reprimanded.

 

On the other hand, if the parents were told and this parent simply is having buyer's remorse because she consented to let her son go and then he elected to get baptised, then she is in the wrong.

 

I am sympathetic to the moral context of the whole thing but as a Christian he has multi-faceted responsibilities, which here it appears, at first blush, that he did not follow.

Really? So if my kid plays football and the coach decides to take his 18 year olds to a strip joint, that's covered?

I think that only includes trips to-and-from games, and perhaps practices if the team uses a field away from the school building.

I've been in several different schools, ours were always in a classroom of our teacher rep, or in the cafeteria.

Those trips are athletic related.

I can understand why she would be upset. As a parent it is my responsibility to share my family's beliefs with my kids. It is my choice to take my kids to church or not. History teachers should teach history, football coaches coach football and let parents do the parenting.

 

The end doesn't justify the means.

 

The man obviously follows a higher authority.

No, it's not brainwashing until COFFEE is introduced. Then the kids are hooked for life.

Really? And they didn't mention it to their parents? Amazing that 16 year old boys are out there doing things that their parents are unaware of. And we're upset that it was attending church. Wow!!
