The article said most parents knew it was a "revival." I don't see the problem. Would it be any different if the 16 year old went to church with a friend and got saved? When my son was younger he was always inviting friends to church and several of them were saved. The parents were thrilled.

It seems like there are some in here who are OK with the coach taking these boys to church without the parents permission YET they throw a fit when the POTUS wants to talk to the kids about education.

We have to get permission slips from parents of minors when the President of the United States wants to deliver a positive message to students but it's ok for another adult to take minors to be baptized without the knowledge of the parents? That's hippocracy at it's finest.

I think yours is a great story that could have been better followed here.

 

Did the FCA group baptize you right away?

 

Did the church you eventually were to become a part of baptize you the very first service you attended?

 

That is my biggest problem with this story, much more so than the coach.

 

I can see where you are coming from on the baptism thing. That is something that should be taken up with the preecher, IMO not the coach.

It is indeed against the rules. A trip to a religious service using school equipment (bus) is against the rules.

You have to get permission slips because the FBI and Secret Service has to run a background check on your kids. They can't do that without your permission, and they can't attend without the background check. That is why you must fill that out when the president comes to a school to speak. No point here?!

We're talking about the POTUS speaking to kids all over the nation like he just did, not coming to an individual school in the flesh.

Rule 2

I was talking about when a dignitary or someone of that nature visits a school. Outside of that no persmission slip necessary for kids to hear a public speaker (ie-the president) since it's covered in the program of studies.
