April 21, 200917 yr Winning a national championship, having four “Elite Eight” appearances, winning five SEC titles, and five SEC Tournament titles disqualifies ANY coach from being a bust. Sorry... You are correct "ANY COACH" AT "ANY UNIVERSITY" wouldn't be considered a bust, take Georgia for instance, he would be a legend. At UK , over a 10 year span, you are a bust. Really the 1 National Title may be the only thing on there that is impressive imo. He is about 1 or 2 Final Four Appearances away from being taken out of the bust column, imo.
April 21, 200917 yr Master Blaster Rob Lock Gimel Martinez (remember when KYT ran an announcement during prime time that he committed?)
April 21, 200917 yr I'm not talking about Dolly Parton, but who are the UK guys who had tons of hype and then didn't produce? Rod Rhodes Randolph Morris Billy G ????? Randolph Morris, hands down in my book. That's why I said he doesn't belong on the All UK Team Morris? How was he a bust? Yeah he didn't come in and just dominate his freshman year like some thought. However he was a good contributor on that team that made the elite 8 his freshman year. Then his sophomore year he wasn't on the team for the first half of the year, because he tried to go pro. Just never really got into the flow of things. Then his junior year (his last year) he actually started to play to that potential. I guess you don't remember him basically caring UK to end the year that year, and basically single handily beat Villanova in the first round of the tournament. By the end of his career here, he really started to turn it on. If he stayed for his senior year, I think there would have been a good chance he would have been an All American.
April 21, 200917 yr Master Blaster Rob Lock Gimel Martinez (remember when KYT ran an announcement during prime time that he committed?) I remember thinking that he and Carlos Toomer were huge gets from reading the Lexington Herald-Leader. :ohbrother:
April 21, 200917 yr Master Blaster Rob Lock Gimel Martinez (remember when KYT ran an announcement during prime time that he committed?) Gimel was one of my favorites. He got five fouls a game, and he used every one of them.
April 22, 200917 yr Chuck Alexinas and Dwight Anderson Good one. How about these: Clarence Tillman was a McDonald's boy in '78. Never did well in '79 and transferred out. Derrick Hord made All-SEC a year. Really can't call that one a bust. Richard Madison was another that seemed to just drift through looking great in profile and mediocre in performance. Bret Bearup never did much for me. He was a Burger Boy and Parade All-American as well. Irving Thomas was another Burger Boy who only played 2 seasons and was a bust from '86 to '87.
April 22, 200917 yr - Rod Rhodes scored 1,209 points in his 3-year career - that's hardly a bust - Randolph Morris scored 1,123 points and 531 rebounds in 3 seasons It's hard to label those busts. Did you watch Rhodes play?
April 22, 200917 yr Did you watch Rhodes play? I did. He was a very good player. Not Great but very good. The problem is that we remember the melt downs instead of the times he scored 18 or 22 and helped us win games.
April 22, 200917 yr Chuck Alexinas and Dwight Anderson Dwight Anderson was anything, but a bust. He was a great player that got kicked off the team by Coach Hall for doing drugs.
April 22, 200917 yr Dwight Anderson was anything, but a bust. He was a great player that got kicked off the team by Coach Hall for doing drugs. He got kicked off the team, for doing drugs, and didn't complete a promising career, "A Bust"!
