I'll point out to you that Jared Carter had an offer from Roy Williams at North Carolina and Perry Stevenson from Rick Barnes at Texas.

In all seriousness, thanks for the info because I had forgotten about the Roy Williams visit to Scott Co. and did not know about Perry Stevenson and the Longhorns.

 

I'm not a college basketball expert and by no means know the recruiting history of UK...so, with that said, I have no good answer for you. My best answer would have to be that they probably were recruited on their potential even though they didn't have outstanding high school basketball careers. But I guess you recruit a player based on his potential. When that potential is never met and you don't produce, is when you aren't the caliber that the program warrants.

 

However, I would not be wrong in saying that the level of UK's program has dropped; resulting in the recruitment of less talented and less harolded players.

Well obviously Gilespee thought these two would be tremendus players and wanted a commitment from them before any of the other schools snagged them. Euton jus hasn't developed into the player Gilespee thought he would be. Zollo is still a sophmore and still has time to develop.

 

I agree about the offer ant the intention to take if off the table. It would be better for Uk and Euton if he doesn't play IMO. Euton would be better off playing some where, where he contribute, and I just don't see that place at UK. Good luck to Euton where ever he ends up!

The thing here is some kids grow up dreaming of being a wildcat,and when it actually has a chance to happen, they dont care if they ever play. I would say you can take it to the bank if UK doesnt pull the offer off the table he will be a wildcat. Like UK's lone senior said this year I wouldnt change a thing.

No team "snags" players that Kentucky wants from Central Kentucky.

 

If UK wants them, they get them so there is/was no need to offer early on these boys.

 

I can't recall one player ever within a hour of Lexington (Louisville is one hour and a half) that UK hotly recruited that went elsewhere.

Not knowing any of the finals stats and not to be too harsh because they are just young players, I am not at all surprised that no post has even mentioned Euton. When the Euton/Jackson transfer happened, I believed in the hype (probably like most BGPer's and KY high school basketball followers) that they, mainly Euton, would turn Scott Co. into a lock for the State Championship. But after watching a couple games of Scott Co vs. region winners, Euton was very unimpressive (and I know a player can have bad games). I won't criticize him anymore, but I will ask Billy G. and UK...what were/are you thinking???

This was a tough loss for my Cards, but this had to be the game of the year. The intensity level was so high and at one point the entire crowd, both sides, were up cheering as loud as they could. Another instant classic between these two powerhouses.

 

The turnovers hurt Scott late, but there was no doubt this game was gonna be won by whoever got the last shot off. I do disagree with the last foul call with 3 seconds left to put Catholic on the line to take the lead, unless there's a clear foul there the refs shouldn't decide the game. I would be interested for anyone who went to the game or watched it online to tell me what they thought about that call.

I have watched a lot of high school basketball and have seen all the in state recruits and I think they are good players but not what we need at Kentucky. I would like to see him at some schools like Holmes(johnson and pittman), Elliott County(Knipp or Evan), Scott County (Jackson not Euton), and many other schools in the State that posses the talent we need; look at Preston Noels, we can't miss out on kids like that along with many many others. The reason I like Ford and Phelphrey is because they now that it has to start with in state pride to put UK back on the map, both of those schools are on the radar for every big time player in Kentucky. Billy might need a couple more years or whatever but I question his ability to earn the players and fans respect. This isn’t Texas where you can fly under the radar and Basketball is something to stay in shape for football, it is a state where we expect to win and we do put high expectations on a coach because we want and expect you to win; that's why we have had only 5 or 6 coaches in the last 75 years. I just don't understand the hiring of someone with 2 DUI'S, single, and not even a clue to the realm of big blue nation.

I watched the game. How was it NOT a foul!? The kid went to the hoop, put up the shot and got knocked to the ground. That's a fould in the first 5 seconds of the game AND the last 5 seconds of the game.
