Not too sure of the Zollo kid at Clark Co either,,,,need to see someone he recruited that makes me think wow this kid can play.

I think Billy offered Euton too early. He was thinking Euton would grow to 6'10" or so. Euton was much more dominating a couple of years ago, against kids his own age.

Euton seems like a great kid, and I understand he is a hard worker. Self motivated and works on his game constantly. Hope he ends up at a place he can contribute. Just don't see that being UK.

I absolutely hate when people say you should swallow the whistle at the end. That is an unfair advantage to the defense. In the rules it states what a foul is and says nothing about when in the game it is or isn't a foul. IT ALWAYS IS. I know of refs swallowing the whistle to end a teams season and it isn't right. This was the right call because there was contact on the arm and with the body. Unwritten rules ruin basketball!!! Just like the unwritten rule of traveling/extra steps in the NBA hurts it.

I have a lot of sympathy for this kid who has been put in a very unfair position.

Lets not forget that Euton and Zollo only verbally commited to UK. No letter of intent was signed, so as far as I know technically UK can take those offers of the table. Correct me if I am wrong.

You are right in the sense that neither player has a binding letter of intent contract.

 

The question is.......what purpose is served offering these two players so early in their developing careers.

Well obviously Gilespee thought these two would be tremendus players and wanted a commitment from them before any of the other schools snagged them. Euton jus hasn't developed into the player Gilespee thought he would be. Zollo is still a sophmore and still has time to develop.

 

I agree about the offer ant the intention to take if off the table. It would be better for Uk and Euton if he doesn't play IMO. Euton would be better off playing some where, where he contribute, and I just don't see that place at UK. Good luck to Euton where ever he ends up!

I hate to see part of the Redhound family (Billy Hicks) go down but hats off to Catholic. I knew they had a great team when I saw them play at Corbin. Congrats to the Knights.

What is becoming the problem in men's college basketball at UK, for example, is recruiting young potential rather than veteran talent. The likes of Jared Carter, Perry Stevenson, Ramon Harris, Michael Porter and others should never get playing time at a program like Kentucky's. I am not for sure on this, but these kids were probably recruited because they MIGHT be able to do something at the college level, not necessarily based on their high school play. And young players such as Euton and Zollo get caught up in this, and then fizzle out before they even graduate high school. So I guess I shouldn't be criticizing the players as much as I should be the system. The way it works must put more than enough pressure on these players. When they don't end up like everyone predicted, people like me are all over them pointing out this negative and that negative. So :isurrender:

No team "snags" players that Kentucky wants from Central Kentucky.

 

If UK wants them, they get them so there is/was no need to offer early on these boys.

 

I can't recall one player ever within a hour of Lexington (Louisville is one hour and a half) that UK hotly recruited that went elsewhere.

I saw Euton and Jackson several times last year at Rose Hill and 5-6 times this season at SC.

 

I kind of agree, that I am not overly impressed by either player. Jackson definitely made more progress than Euton over the course of the season. Euton seems to have peaked about a year ago.

 

Worries me about Euton's prospects at UK. He is basically a spot up (when open) shooter. If we can't get Meeks an open look, I don't see how Euton is getting those open looks in the SEC.

Shake A Bush and these type of players will fall out everywhere. When Billy G committs to these type players after their soph. year its kinda scary. :scared:

I'll point out to you that Jared Carter had an offer from Roy Williams at North Carolina and Perry Stevenson from Rick Barnes at Texas.

 

Why would you say they are not Kentucky caliber recruits?

Fundamentally, Chad Jackson is much better.

 

I think Wayne Turner shot nearly 50% from the field in his UK career, but many of them were layups. From 3 point range, I would guess a very low percentage with not many attempts.

 

Chad Jackson has a chance to be a much better shooter in college in my opinion.

Hope he found a jump shot in Scott Co. he didnt have one when he left Ashland.

Was Vince Sanford recruited by Kentucky?

I believe Vince redshirted a year at Kentucky? or was all set to go anyways, then the whole coaching change took place and he went to South Florida.
