I don't remember anyone making that point - the question was - with the 9th region playing their tournament in the town of a 10th region team, does anyone in the 9th travel farther than GRC/Montgomery.

I can assure you that most from Mt. Sterling and Winchester are glad to drive to Alexandria. It's the Mason faithful that constantly complain that it is their God-given right to host the 10th region tourney.

The much-maligned scoreboard feature with the players' numbers, points, and fouls was operational, due to the efforts of our man - Statsmanhensley.

 

Lines were actually long at the concession stands for the first time also.

 

Excpect similar crowds (perhaps a tad smaller) on Monday night and a HUGE crowd on Tuesday night.

I too thought that everything went well today at the BOKC.

 

Mr. Kevin Contardo was very gracious in accomodating all of the radio/internet media on hand for the four games, and readily available to iron out any difficulties that any of us encountered.

 

The 10th Region produced programs and T-Shirts that were noticably absent for the 9th Region games. The crowds turned out to support their teams, and they too were larger than that experienced by the 9th Region teams during prime time on Wednesday and Thursday.

 

While I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to the 10th Regon Tournament being held at the central Mason County Fieldhouse location, It was enjoyable watching our athletes compete in such a spacious, well-appointed facility, and an experience that they will never forget, and I was pleased to see that the fans from Mount Sterling and Winchester turn out for the opening round games.

 

It will be interesting to see what the Monday night semis and Tuesday night's finals bring.

The fact is that like it or not, the 10th Region is spread all over the north-central section of the state. For you to laugh at a statement about the Mason County Filedhouse being centrally located, or at least as centrally located as possible, shows that you are either blinded by some prejudice, or totally out of touch with reality.

 

Unless we hold the tournament simultaneously in four different locations, no one is going to agree with the location. The Fieldhouse is the closest thing we can come to a centrally located site - Indisputable!

 

It's no wonder that we (10th Region fans) are coming off as being a reincarnation of the Hatfields and McCoys.

Not many in the corners or behind the basket. I would estimate the lower level to maybe slightly more than 1/2 full. Where were the students? I seriously think it should be moved back to the HS gyms.

Do you think the Highlands students will cheer there? If I were a HHS alum/fan I would be embarrassed by the lack of cheering done by the HHS student section (the few that were there) during this tournament. Yea I know CovCath wasn't even there but come on, to just sit in the stands and talk amongst yourselves while sitting on your hands.. Sad, sad indeed and I can't really say anything good about the Boone County Students either.

 

What gives with Boone can't they even bring there pep band to a single game? Wanna bet that there will tons of students who will want to miss school to attend games at Dibble but never even went to a single Ninth Region tourney game.

They always have. I don't understand why they stayed away. Funny hearing you dis student sections this year:lol: As to why back to HS gyms? I have now watched in both types of venues and played in the HS gyms. I didn't think I would feel this way, but after what I saw today as far as lack of excitement and atmosphere, I prefer Holmes, Ryle, and Conner packed and rockin.

That's because I think when we say we want tickets for the "Holmes" section, they think we mean "home" team. :idunno: They had the cheer section again on the opposite side of where we should have been. Like the other night we packed up and moved to the other end.

TOG...I have to respectfully disagree with you on this matter. Honestly, who cares whether the students show up or not? People come to see a basketball game...not cheering sections.

I too don't want to dis a student section and thanks for the kudos for the Holmes section, but.....the cheer section is mostly parents and teachers that sadly outnumber the students (we do try and bring some spirit to the gym).

 

Let's hope more students can and will show up on Tuesday to cheer the Bulldog's on. If you are a Bulldog fan, young or old, we need you in the Dawg Pound this Tuesday. Come join us!!!

The Holmes kids (any school kids for that matter, that's the only group that I worry about being together) and band were all together and although they were small in numbers they indeed were loud and they did a great job!

Some people are talking about lack of atmosphere, well student bring that when they are cheering in a group, I can guarantee you that if CCH was playing there would be plenty of atmosphere, why? Because of the student section, as well as bands. But when Clark Co from brings more students to a first round game than some schools within miles of the BOK. :confused:

 

Face it, the 9th is at the BOK to stay!
