It will be interesting to see how the two tournaments do and if BOK wants to continue both next year. My guess is that the 10th will make its committment and they will be pleased to offer them a spot next year.

 

One thing that the people in the ninth have not complained about and have probably never thought about it that their tourney is actually being played in the tenth region. NKU is located in the Campbell County School District. I think that is funny trvia fact that no one has mentioned yet.

The Ninth will be returning, as this is only the first year of a three year contract they have with NKU and the BOKC.

 

It has been mentioned in past threads going back over a year or more.

 

While indeed NKU is in the Campbell County school district and thus the 10th region, I think most will agree that the BOKC is closer to Ft. Thomas Highlands High School and maybe even closer to Newport Public High School, than it is to Campbell County HS.

 

Indeed when you think of NKU and it's location in NKy, I highly doubt you think of Mason, Montorgery, or Clark counties......

^ Anyone know the longest distance any 9th region team could travel to get to BOK? I'd say Montgomery has the longest trip in the 10th - Right at 2 hours.

 

Read in a thread that Montgomery had around 113 Miles and GRC 98. Does Montgomery Co go to Fleming, Maysville then AA? GRC goes up I-75.

I don't remember anyone making that point - the question was - with the 9th region playing their tournament in the town of a 10th region team, does anyone in the 9th travel farther than GRC/Montgomery.

I can assure you that most from Mt. Sterling and Winchester are glad to drive to Alexandria. It's the Mason faithful that constantly complain that it is their God-given right to host the 10th region tourney.

The BOK is a wonderful facility. My main complaint is related to ticket prices and the reserved seating. $8+ is too much for the large majority of the fans who want to only see their team play. There is also no need for reserve seating and it pretty much destroys the atmosphere because a school's fans are not going to be as enthusiastic if they are not sitting together. Plus, its always a downer when non-fans are sitting in and around your group and are usually irked if you are standing up and cheering.

Ryle HS would have traveled the farthest to BOKC from the ninth (19.9 miles via Triple A). From my home in Boone County, it is a total of 16.6 miles and it takes me about twenty minutes, give or take a minute or two of fighting the traffic in and around mall road.

That may well be. But I like where my seats are, and I will kindly ask anyone that is sitting in them to move. Plus we will be staying for the Holmes/NCC game. So I don't think you will be able to sit wherever.. Well at least not 2nd row half court

 

Plenty of great seats pretty much anywhere you want in that place. To be honest, I like about 15 rows up at halfcourt because of the view from above. Courtside seats and first few rows arent my cup of tea.

Montgomery goes up 75 (if you follow google maps) - the difference would be the distance between Mts and Winchester on 64

I say this with no disrespect meant to anyone so please don't take it the wrong way, but, I can't believe some still feel the need to complain about this or that. Ladies and Gentleman...let's all realize this is about the KIDS!! Some of us need to put that in perspective rather than worrying about our own selfish wants or needs. I'm sure the kids could care less about the things some of us are complaining about and they're simply happy to have the opportunity to play in a first rate facility and have a chance to prepare themselves for a state title run. Isn't that what this is all about? Our teams advancing and seeing these young men succeed? I can guarantee you, they'd play in an EMPTY gym and have no problem with it.

 

Also, these are the same prices as at Rupp...tickets are actually MORE at Rupp and atmosphere usually lacks BIG TIME in the first and second round games, so why are we complaining about this, but not that???

I agree....I think some of those complainining about a lack of atmosphere are in for a nice surprise come Tuesday night. Again, I guarantee Tuesday night will draw the biggest crowd both 9th and 10th region folks have ever seen for a region championship.

I can't believe people are complaining about bags being checked at the door. This happens at all major venues. Some people are just looking for something to complain about.

 

Also. I know of one instance Friday night at the 9th region girls game where after the game a couple Highlands fans walked on to the baseline of the court, they were nicely asked to please step off the court. One gentleman continued to walk or purposly put one foot on the court just to be a jerk and was asked a second, third, and fourth time to please step off. If I recall correctly, at the fieldhouse the ROTC usually hods a rope up so no one steps on to the court. I don't see any complaining about that. I also saw yesterday where some fans sat down on the courtside seats and were upset when they were asked to move because they did not have tickets for those seats. Those seats are more expensive then the rest of the seating. How can you complain about being moved when you're the one in the wrong seat?

I agree on all counts. I haven't seen one post about the ticket prices or concession at Rupp being too high. Oh lets not forget the rudeness of the ushers.....
