Best crowds of the tournament today.

Pretty much filled the lower "horseshoe" and a smattering of fans upstairs.

 

The much-maligned scoreboard feature with the players' numbers, points, and fouls was operational, due to the efforts of our man - Statsmanhensley.

 

Lines were actually long at the concession stands for the first time also.

 

Excpect similar crowds (perhaps a tad smaller) on Monday night and a HUGE crowd on Tuesday night.

 

I don't think so, I heard that yesterdays 10th crowds may have been larger than the last two years. I heard today the tournament host will be letting region officials know on Monday how things are going.

I'm sure they could have some preferred seating, but so far no one has been forced to sit in the back of the place. Not even close. I was in the 5th row today and there were open seats all around us.

 

5th row, what section? Other than in the student sections (behind the baskets) it seemed there were some pretty good crowds of folks. BTW I sat in section 102 row B seat 1 and all the seats around me were full.

Speaking of Tuesday...if you're a 9th region fan, I recommend getting to the BOKC for the start of the 10th game if you want a seat in the lower bowl on one of the sidelines. I assume many of the 10th fans will stick around for the 9th finals which is going to leave limited seating in the lower bowl, unless you want to sit in the endzones.

Not many in the corners or behind the basket. I would estimate the lower level to maybe slightly more than 1/2 full. Where were the students? I seriously think it should be moved back to the HS gyms.

 

Really? Because as a player are you really fired up about getting to play out at Ryle again this season? Or maybe you just have to play another couple games out at Conner?

I think they should make it all general admission. Assigned seating just doesn't work for an event like this. Or have a section for premium assigned seating and the rest as general admission.

 

That is how they do it in the 15th at the Expo center. There is premium seating then the rest is general admission. Tickets are 7 for premium and 6 for general. The expo center has unreal scoreboards that work and keeps stats.

When there are 9000 seats it's going to look empty compared to the 2000-3000 that most high school gyms seat. There could well have been more people at BOK than there were at the Fieldhouse or at Montgomery Co. the past couple of years and it would be VERY hard to tell because of the difference in the size of the facility.

 

BOK is first class. Top of the line first class.

That advice won"t help because they will be watching closer that people are sitting in their correct seats. That was confirmed today by BOK staff. My understanding is that the arena was divided equally between the two regions in the lower bowl.

BEAUTIFUL place !!! But 8 bucks for a ticket is pretty steep and gee whiz let's get a 1$ menu over there folks!:irked:

I doubt there is one player on a team in the tourney that will say they would rather have played in a high school gym. There will be a couple thousand people, or more, there on Tuesday night that would not have even considered trying to go if the game(s) were at one of the high school gyms. So if the players are happy and a lot more fans show up, I believe that is the end of the debate.

Did the 9th not designate seating, after the draw we were told by our school which section to buy tickets in for each game.

At 1:40 (20 minutes prior to tipoff) there were long lines just inside the front doors. It took us a minute or two to sort out that the lines were for the ticket windows and not a security check point. Since we purchased our tickets presale we wedged through the line and headed up the wide open stairs to the wide open entrance. It might have been helpful to have a BOK worker direct fans with presale tickets to go on up the stairs. My strong recommendation for Tuesday would be to get your tickets presale. The extra couple of bucks is a pain, but it beats a 25 minute wait as tipoff is approaching. The BOK personnel I encountered were all fine. Not overly effusive with their help but not rude either.

That's why I was saying to get there early. So you are assured a seat where you want to sit. If you get there early enough you can tell them where you want to sit and get the seats with no problem. I arrived to the Highlands/Boone game today around 2:30 and was still able to get 3 tickets at midcourt (section 111/112) about 8 rows up with no problem.

We were in 11. You must have been right behind us. I did appreciate the fact that my back wasn't killing me when we left. Very comfortable seating

It is a great place for the players to play - it is not a great place for fans (expense, general confusion about where to sit, distrance to drive for some, among the most talked about issues)

 

The seats are comfortable and there are plenty of them.

 

But don't complain about lack of support from fans if you are looking for a "great place for the players"

 

If you want atmosphere and fan support, the players are going to have to play in high school venues.

 

Either one will work - but like someone else said, you can have anything you want - but you can't have everything.

 

School officials need to think about the purpose of the tournament - be it money, the experience for the players, the experience for the fans, whatever and make their decision based on that.

 

Neither the big centers nor the high school gym will satisfy both.

$7.00 for a BBQ and $3.00 for a coke is too much for College or High School.The servers know they are selling products that they cant afford either.The attendence of students is not just down at BOK, but the regional games had fewer students.
