Some people are talking about lack of atmosphere, well student bring that when they are cheering in a group, I can guarantee you that if CCH was playing there would be plenty of atmosphere, why? Because if the student section. But when Clark Co from brings more students to a first round game than some schools within miles of the BOK. :confused:

CCH played arch rival Highlands earlier in the season at the BOKC, and CovCath's student section was non existent.

TOG...I have to respectfully disagree with you on this matter. Honestly, who cares whether the students show up or not? People come to see a basketball game...not cheering sections.

 

Quite true, but some people are complaining about atmosphere, and students standing and cheering, the bands playing and the loud screaming is all a part of that but some student sections have been clearing lacking in school spirit during this tounrey both on the girls and boys side.

 

Tezzy I come to watch the games, as I don't even have a child in HS anymore and CovCath isn't even the hunt this season, so i come to watch good BBall and to talk to the fans.

Fair enough.

 

But at the same time, isn't it the players who provide the excitement and atmosphere? It's the players making great plays and playing good defense that bring the atmosphere to the arena by getting everyone excited....not student sections.

I disagree about doing away totally with the all the assign seating.

 

Why, if I want to shell out my money and I am willing to pay no matter who I see play and I do it well in advance of the games being played, should I have to sit in the back of the place because you buy your ticket the day of the game because your team is still in the hunt and you arrive hours early.....

 

Maybe the first 5/10 rows up from the floor across from the team benches and the first five rows behind the benches could go on pre sale to whoever is willing to buy them no matter who is playing and then the rest could be sold as general admission.

There are some great suggestions for improvement for next year as well as many positive comments about this year's tourn.

 

What district and/or school is the host for 2010 and how do we make sure that the host school has this information when deciding where to play the 10 Region game next year?

 

It is a shame for all these great ideas to never leave the pages of BGP.

This tournament so far has had none of the usual excitement and or atmosphere as it has had for decades, student sections or not. Whatever the reason, the students for most of the shools decided not to attend this year. Even though NCC had perhaps the most students sitting together, they were not really uniformally cheering as they normally do. At least in the 1st half. I have attended and participated in 9th region tourneys that you actually couldn't hear yourself think. Granted they were broiling hot, and very crowded, and yes they cleared the gym after the 1st semi. What I saw today was nothing of the sort. Very generic.

I like it. Its a great place to watch a game. Awesome facility!

But did the kids PLAYING the game appreciate the chance to play on a college floor and in that type of environment?

I'm sure they could have some preferred seating, but so far no one has been forced to sit in the back of the place. Not even close. I was in the 5th row today and there were open seats all around us.

I think they could have done general admission seating for first round. Then gone to reserved seating for semi and finals. You must have reserved for the finals, because it has to be split evenly between the two regions.
