I, too, was very surprised by how many people chose UK. Just not realistic with this team on the road. I think SC would beat KY at least 8 of 10 at Columbia as the two teams are. Instead of using my heart, I voted with my head for the Cocks. That does not sound too good.

Exactly. This is what I am saying.

That one was ugly. USC has simply beaten us on both ends of the floor twice this season.

 

Downey is tough, but what made BCG think that Ramon Harris could guard him? Liggins did an alright job, but he's simply too fast for either one of them to handle.

 

I don't understand why we NEVER press. The only thing that resembled a press was when we played man-to-man and had the guy guarding the inbounds pass come & double. That's not a press. That's a fast break for the other team, since all they have to do is throw the ball over the top and run down the floor.

 

Michael Porter sucks. Plain & simple. He's too slow with the ball, he has very little confidence in his shot, and teams just wait to take the ball from him. No way he should be out there. Hate to see his knee bothering him, but he has no business out there. The only problem is Liggins continues to prove he's not ready for the big time too. How many horrible decisions can you make in one game?

 

Patterson battled but I was disappointed in his play. He got blocked 10+ times tonight. Hey PatPat, ever heard of an up & under? Or maybe kicking it out for a good look?

 

Meeks shot well, but we didn't try to get him the ball. That's frustrating, too.

 

All in all it was a horrible display, but it's only 1 loss. And South Carolina is a very, very good team and they were pumped for tonight's game.

 

Let's move on...we have a huge game on Saturday vs. LSU which means a lot to this season.

This team is not nearly quick enough to press. One thing this game surely showed was that this team has a quickness deficit.

How many times was Patterson hacked on those blocks and not called? There were at least three that I counted...but the officials played no part in this one.

I was more disheartened by the lack of play by 21, 55, and 15...they didnt duck in hardly at all. No wonder 21 didnt play in the second half.

Go back to the basics and teach boxing out and rebounding.

USC hustled and played hard tonight and Downey abused UK once again.

They set screens for Meeks. The problem is that SC denies everything hard on the perimeter, and you can get the ball inside on them once you break initial pressure. We struggled particularly with that pressure from the tip...it has been that way all year. If you are trying to run your o from 40 feet away there are not enough picks on the floor to get ball in a scoring position.

 

I have to agree with AA here. Heart and Pride will take a team alot further than a team without it, no doubt about it. Heart and Pride are essential (along with talent of course) at ANY level for a team to be a winner. JMO

 

A perfect example.....The "unforgettables", Pitino's early teams. That was a team of overachieving in state kids that lived and loved U.K.basketball their entire life and they played like it. Loaded all over with great talent....no. Loaded with heart and pride...absolutely! That was the team that formed the foundation and set the standard for the later teams that Pitino had here and it was built on heart and pride.

Those teams can shoot. You need a dominant PG to win big in the NCAA. We dont have one. SC has one and a veteran at that.

Hustle and pride and everything else will not be enough.

 

Billy Clyde went on and on in his post-game radio interview with Tom Leach about what a warrior Patrick Patterson is/was, and how he has no help from the likes of A.J. Stewart, Perry Stevenson, and Josh Harrellson.

 

He then was oh so close to telling Tom Leach he was asking bad questions because he asked about Jody Meeks sitting in the second half.

 

Our UK coach is lacking in several categories beside his ability to coach a basketball team.

He handled that very well IMO. He didnt admonish Leach, he went out of his way to make sure he didnt. I think he really wanted to hammer the other post players and he did. In the presser yesterday he was concerned about the exact things that happened tonight...he is frustrated...he has no one else to turn to in the post. Both 21 and 55 came down and just simply threw it to SC on a simple reversal. They have done it all year....

 

Man he is good...top 2-3 PG in nation...Id take him over Flynn yesterday. No one his size dominants the game like he does. That one move in first half where he crossed over got by man and hit a feathery fadeaway over help defense...was simply unstoppable...he was great tonight and is one reason was SC has had such a good season. He is just so quick...

I dont see the talent...he has it at two spots and the others are frosh.

 

My question is if Porter and Harris are so bad, and they are, then why has the great recruiter not gotten someone better to play. Liggins or Porter which one do you play the most. They both are horrible. With so much riding on the game how do you show up that flat. Someone tell me that. This reminded me of the Vanderbilt game last year.

I think there is the holdup with the contract...I think he wanted to jet some players and was blocked. He may also have been handtied regarding recruiting some players.

He needs quicker players...

He was able to get Patterson. It was no given that OTS was getting him. He brought in some others like Galloway, Liggins, Miller, and Harrellson. I think he sees Harrellson as a real contributor in a year or two. Liggins has been tough to break and Miller is slowly coming around. Galloway struggled picking up system. Losing Jasper has really hurt this team...particularly rebounding from the guard spot.

He is getting a pass from me this year and I think they can still squeeze into the tourney.

Not happy about this one, but Vandy last year was worse. The timing of this one is not good though.

Mighty Mouse is sick...there's no doubt about that. UK has that double edged sword right now. By that I mean, they will still take everyone's best shot, night and night out. Also, they don't have that UK skill or swagger they normally posess. They'll get that back, without question. I look for them to still make the tourney, and they'll make some noise. When the talent level gets back to UK's standards this will all be a long forgotten memory.

It doesn't bother me one bit, but I just wish people would admit that they're voting from their hearts, and not their heads. You just admitted that you're voting from your heart. Good for you. Show me once where I've "dissed" the Cats. I just give my honest opinion on what I feel the Wildcats chances are in a game. If I think they'll win, I say so. If I think they'll lose. I say so. Hey, if you want to start a poll each game and have the poll question as " Who do you want to win?" I can promise you I'll pick UK 100% of the time. That's not what the poll questions are though.

Even if you don't diss the team, you call out practically everyone who votes for UK. Make a 3rd option on the poll next time, "I am picking UK (but only from my heart). Then people won't have to defend themselves once you call them out for picking UK.

1. What has happened to the Perry Stevenson that played so well when Patterson was out last year?

2. Does the UK player whose man doubles on Patterson ever cut to the basket?

3. Why does Patterson not look to pass when he gets it down low(see #2)?

4. Why no backdoor cuts when they are overplaying the passing lanes?

5. Where is the heart and effort on the loose balls and backboard?

6. Are the UK players to meek to compete when the other team punches them in the mouth?
