Bank of Kentucky & the 9th and 10th Region - No Radio/Internet Broadcasting

Featured Replies

Curiosly enough, according to Google maps, Augusta HS (I used the 307 Bracken Street address) and Bracken County HS (350 W. Miami St. address) are both 35.2 miles from the BOKC.

So,

No internet broadcasting unless a sellout.

No radio broadcasts for any station within 30 miles of the BOKC (such as Brossart, Scott, Campbell County) unless a sellout.

PS - yes, my thinking was backwards on a previous post. It's the stations WITHIN the 30-mila radius that are being shut out. Cynthiana, Mt. Sterling, Winchester, etc. are okay (Cynthiana is the closest of these at 50.7 miles).

Wouldn't having the region in such a big venue kill the spirit of the region tournament.

I'm glad I am from the 8th region!

I've looked so forward to going up and having the 10th here because its sounds like a great arena,But i would be willing to bet anything the 10th never sets foot back up in the BOK again after this year. The 9th may as its in there backyard,This is just some crazy stuff sounds like something out of Iran or China dictatorships.:irked::isurrender:

Per Google maps, these are the driving distances in miles from the 10th region schools to the BOKC. I used the street addresses of the high schools. I know that there is probably a closer route from Montgomery County; the distance listed is the one that Google gave me:

Silver Grove 5.3

Scott 6.4

Bishop Brossart 7.0

Calvary Christian 8.1

Campbell County 9.7

Pendleton County 28.4

Augusta 35.2

Bracken County 35.2

Harrison County 50.7

St. Patrick 56.9

Deming 57.1

Mason County 58.9

Paris 64.4

Bourbon County 64.7

Nicholas County 67.9

Clark County 98.8

Montgomery County 112

You know Papa i can hire you for some part time work if you would like,You have to much time on your hands with Retirement.:DSeriously enjoy though.

Can any 10th region fans honestly say they would rather be going through this to have this tourney at the BOK other than maybe Campbell or Brossart fans?Honestly.

Based on the replies here, it would seem the 9th region fans are fine with this? Really???

GT. I compared the BOK administration to Communist China. Not much else I can do ... I'm too old to get in a fist fight. :D:D

I doubt that the Cov. Cath. internet guys have missed a single second of Colonels' tourney play since they started doing the games in '04- '05. Darn shame for everyone, but especially for the fans in the military who are risking their lives to defend our freedom.

Are we to assume that the initial story about there being a fee is not true?

I understand the GUARANTEED money looks pretty in todays economic crunch, but we need to get back to the regional atmosphere that comes to these tournaments. We have two great facilities in the 10th region and possibly some more in the near future. Keep it at home and let the 9th have the BOKC.

Sounds more like the fans in Mason County are just crying about one more thing about not have the tournament in Maysville. Its a done deal where the tournament is going to be so why not enjoy the opportunity that your athletes are going to have and let it rest.

You Mason Co. people just love to beat that horse don't you.:deadhorse:

No. The argument that they don't want to "give away" the product that they are paying a fee for sounds fine on the surface. However, once you realize that the only true radio that might broadcast it is KR Sports and no one ever has a clue a)if they will be and b)what station are they going to be on on a given night it doesn't hold water. They will not lose money.

For the 10th region, it doesn't hold water either. The fans that want to come will come. Those that don't care are probably not listening on the radio anyway. It only hurts those that want to be there but can't.

Not a good way of introducing yourself to the NKY/10th Region basketball community. I'll be stunned to see the 10th at BOK next year.
