Am begging 10th region fans,officials,etc. to please bring this thing back to The Fieldhouse each and every year where things are simple and the 10th region is the 10th region, could care less about the 9th region. If anything kick Campbell County,Scott and other extreme Northern Kentucky teams into the 9th region and combine the 10th and 16th together in one building for the regional tournament. More people in the 10th region follow or know more about the 16th region teams than ever know about the 9th.

I can't speak for others in the 16th region. But I think that our setup is fair and nearly equitable for everyone. A neutral court with lots of seating in a more or less central location for all teams. It can't get much better than that and I hope it never changes.

From Northern Kentucky on up into Ohio, a different world from the rest of Kentucky, people will find out when they go to the regional tournament this year

 

There's people in other states that think we wear shoes or have any indoor plumbing and you are labeling someone else

I hate to hear the student sections are behind the baskets. I don't think the student's should have to clear their seats either.

 

The way this arena is set up it is the best place for the student section. The only bleacher seats in the arena are behind the South ends basket. The students will be standing during the game they don't need to take away chairs from other fans who would not be standing cheering the entire game.

"In the contract with the Bank of Kentucky Center, the center retained the rights for broadcasting. Those rights were offered to us for $10,000 fee. Both the 9th and 10th regions declined to purchase these rights due to the high cost and because we were under the assumption that it was referring to television only. As many of you may have heard there have been inquires about radio and webcast broadcasting and the arena has said that neither would be permitted. Their reasoning behind this makes sense due to the fact that they are quaranteeing us money. I have expressed a concern about this, and feel like some type of compromise will be reached by early tomorrow. I don't know that it will make everyone happy, but I feel that it will solve most issues. When a decision is reached, I will forward a press release to you."

 

I bolded assumption because you know what happens when you assume?

 

My take on the situation is that Mr. Strong should have done his homework. He should have asked some questions that evidently didn't get asked. I hope for his sake that an agreement can be reached and broadcast can be done for the fans. Because, the fans that can't make it to the games for whatever reason will be the ones that suffer.

Hey, I was just kidding...trying to make the point that now that we have opened Pandora's Box, by having the 10th Region Tournament in the third different venue in the past three tournaments, what's to prevent the 38th District from having the tournament anywhere it likes....

 

Could maybe strike a deal to use Memorial Coliseum in Lexington or the Civic Center in Frankfort...why not have it at Harrison Co or Pendleton Co. or Deming...Nicholas Co. is supposedly going to have a new gym up and running by the 2010-11 season.

 

Why does the Regional Tournament HAVE to be held in a large venue? I guarantee if it was held at any of the four schools in the 38th, every session would sell out.

 

Tickets would be at a premium...demand is greater than supply...and ticket prices shoot up.

 

Could adopt a local ordinance that allowed temporary scalping licenses and charge a $500 fee to get that license.

 

There's no end to the possibilities.

I talked to my contact at the arena tonight. He relayed to me that they have received your e-mails. They now KNOW the impact that this has on the area. That said, they would not let me know anything tonight. I have been told that they are going to have a press release first thing in the morning that is going to go over their final decision. I will post the release when I get it in the morning.

 

I respect my contact at the arena so I did not press him for more than that. He did say that I will get it first. So you will have it first.

 

I read on Ryan Ernst's blog that they won't even let him bring in his laptop to write stories. The 9th region has a 3 year deal with the arena and the 10th only a one year. Personally I can't believe that this will be renewed unless a concession is made for local media to be allowed in. I guess this means that the other local TV will not be allowed in to film their segments. Just my opinon.

Anything short of not allowing ALL radio and internet broadcasters to cover the games is WRONG! These people have been doing this for YEARS! There will be a very bad taste in A LOT of people's mouths with the BOK and NKU, both in the 9th and the 10th regions.

 

The TBNK started doing tape delay cable broadcasts several years ago, and they do a fantastic job! They should be allowed to do the games as well!

 

It sounds like they are going to go with the "Pool feed", which still is not right. It seems like the company who runs the BOK for NKU has this as standard procedure.

 

I just hope that tomorrow when the news comes out, that everyone puts their disappointment and anger to good use, and with a little afford we can get them to change and do the right thing!

I think that can be said for him and Mr. Molley at Lloyd as well. In reading that post, it seems that this deal was done when the former GM of the arena, Les Crooks was still in control. Anyone who was at Conner last year knew that not only was I there, but Ryan Ernst was there, James Weber from the Community Press was there, the CovCath Internet Radio crew were there, don't know if the radio crew from Falmouth was there, ICN-6 was there too.

 

You would think that with as much media that this tournament brings, now throw in all the folks from the 10th Region and what do you get. A great opportunity to showcase two regions in the same building and an arena that won't even allow a reporter to bring his laptop in to write a story about it??

 

I hope that the decision made by the arena is the correct one.

I don't have a problem with doing things on tape delay either. I talked to the CovCath guys tonight and they are of the same feeling. It's much better if it was live, but I'll take what we can get as long as it's "fee free".
