I have to wait for Birdsfan and the Dixie chili, so I won't make the deadline to vote tonight. I'm holding my opinion until I get my taste buds tingled by Dixie. (I don't think that sounded right, either)

FYI: I'd just as soon not be tingling anything, if that's okay. :eyeonyou:

Your taste test results were dead on accurate so far. But judge ye not, for the chili king cometh! :thumb:

Skyline has better chili, but Gold Star is a better restaurant.

I think the place is closed but in Louisville, there used to be a place called Old Walnut Chili Parlor. It had great chili and tamales.

Does anyone know if this place is still around?

I bring this back up, (Is that a good choice of words?) because, thanks to theguru, we tested Gold Star and Skyline side by side last night at the Rat Hacienda on Lake Rose. We being Mrs. S, my father, and myself.

Gold Star is really good! So when will you try Dixie Chili? Did you purchase the chili from a restaurant or from the store in a can?

Guru sent him cans of both Gold Star and Skyline. He'll get to try some Dixie at the end of March when I head down to Tampa and deliver it.

Camp Washington is in the Cincinnati Style Chili Hall of Fame. They have also been mentioned on the Today Show and other National news programs. Dixie Chile would be a close second.

Looks like I won't be attending Empress Chili anytime soon.

Tell us more. I didn't know there was such a thing.

Since you'll be freeing up space after dropping off the chili, you can bring a case of something back for me.

Cuban Sandwich? Fresh Grouper? Brisket or pulled pork from Skeeter's Smokehouse Bar-b-que? Fresh strawberries, tomatoes, oranges? Tampa Sweethearts or Rodriguez And Menendez Handrolled cigars? Buccaneer gear?
You're thinking way too wholesome for RTS.

He's talking about Yuengling.

Oh! Done deal then. I'll hook you up and we can swap contraband when you get here. :sssh:

What's the fine for carrying Dixie Chili across state lines?

Well Monday night we finally did it and had the finals of the side by side taste test. This time between Dixie Chili (generously provided by Birdsfan) and the winner of the first round Gold Star.

Dixie 3 Gold Star 0

In fact, we really like Dixie and I ordered a case last night. Mrs. S thinks if we add it to a pound of ground beef it would be that much better.

Please caution her against this in very strong terms. No sense in messing up a good thing and trying to turn it into something else. :D
