Please caution her against this in very strong terms. No sense in messing up a good thing and trying to turn it into something else. :D
True. It's not good to tinker with perfection.

Glad you all liked it Swamp. A lot of us knew you would! :thumb:

Caught a re-run of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives tonight where they visited Blue Ash Chili and I got to talking to my roommate about which chili parlors we'd each been to. I've been to:

Dixie

Skyline

Gold Star

Camp Washington

Price Hill Chili

Pleasant Ridge Chili

US Chili

Cretan's Grill

Blue Ash Chili is the only chili parlor that I know of that I haven't hit up in Cincinnati. Anybody know of any others?

Ohhh...and all of you Dixie Chili proponents (I'm one of you), have you ever had The Gator?
No, but I know there are people who love them. Glad you're on board the Dixie train! :thumb:

Personally, I've only had the big three and Empress.

I've eaten a lot of gator tail. What is The Gator?

A dill spear, a hot dog, mayonnaise, mustard and shredded cheese on a hot dog bun. I don't go for it very often, but when I want one, I've gotta have it!

Man, how could I forget Empress! The ORIGINAL Cincinnati chili! I've had that...definitely. I work about a mile down from one of their parlors, as a matter of fact.

Haven't had the gator, though I've noticed it on the menu. As long as we're talking about other items at the chili places, I've noticed this in the last couple years:

Dixie Chili's deli sandwiches are awfully good.

I really like Skyline, but more and more I think their best menu item may be their burrito's.

I've heard very good things about Dixie's deli sandwiches from numerous people.

I'd agree that Skyline's burritos are very good, also, but I don't know that I could take a burrito over a 4-way bean. They also make a heckuva Greek chicken salad, and their classic chicken wrap is outstanding.

A chili pizza from Empress is a thing of beauty. For anyone who hasn't had one, you really don't know what you are missing.

Never tried that one. I might have to stop by there for lunch in the next day or two...

You should you won't regret it, whenever I'm in Alexandria near lunch time I stop and get one. Where are there other Empress location anymore, the one in Alexandria is the only one I'm still aware of?

There's one on Vine Street in Hartwell. It's a block north of the intersection of Galbraith and Vine. Then there's also a new one that they just put in on Dixie in Florence. I think it's in an old Gold Star location.

Empress on Dixie Hwy Florence is in the old Gold Star, it sits across the street from the Honda shop JD

So they put an Empress location on Dixie, in the old Gold Star building. Wonder if it has a good view of the Skyline.
