I get what you two are saying, but if you beat the best early on you may let your guard down afterwards.

Possibly.

You got that right.

Anderson Co first round

Mason Co/GRC/Shelby Valley second round

Holmes/Scott Co semi's

Not sure Anderson County's going to be there...still have to be the favorites in the 8th, but after seeing the contenders play each other, then seeing Humphries go down for the year, and knowing how poorly Anderson shoots FTs...well, I'd say the 8th isn't nearly as certain as many thought during the pre-season.

If Elliott does come out of the 16th region (as they should) I will be rooting for them to win it all for our region and area of the state. But I have to admit they got a tough draw. Not so much who they play first more the time they won't finish Thur. night until about 11. Then have to play Clark, Mason, or Shelby Valley of Fri. night finish at 11. Then have to turn around and play Scott or Holmes on Sat. morning. Then if they were to win turn around and play that evening. That would mean to win it all they would have to play 4 games with 3 of them being all against top 25 teams with the Sat. morning game being against the #1 or 2 team. Plus Elliott is really only 5 deep there subs do fine when they are thumping people around here. If the go I hope they could pull it off, but that is a lot to ask.

Possibly.

That's where good coaching comes into play. Who knows if it will be a problem for Holmes or not. I can't remember; are you a fan of Henley or not? :D

I think you could probably answer that yourself..:thumb:

Holmes with a poor draw. I still will take them to win it all. :dancingpa

Major chicken counting in this thread. I'm glad I have made sure I have plenty of the Rook to go around:

Why do they play the semis and final on same day?

I'm sure rent would be one reason.

Coaching always plays a part, but for Holmes, smelling the roses last year is all the motivation they should need.

It even bothers me to look a head to a degree, but it's human nature I guess. Part of me says, you have to get there before you can predict these tournaments, but the expectations have been there for some Teams, well before the season began.

As for Holmes, I have watched them play five times this year. As far as I'm concerned, I was really impressed only during two of those games. That said, once the districts begin, I look for them to play each and every game like it's their last. If they do that, they will be hard to beat.

All this speculation is cracking me up. I think it would be pretty foolish for any coach or player to worry about the drawings until after the regional tournament is over and you have won. All this if team x plays team y then they can't matchup is funny. Elliott Co. fans are arguing about being about to matchup with Holmes and Scott Co. when all 3 could get knocked off in the region or district. Id rather see the region be decided first.

I doubt the players and Coaches are on here making such predictions. As far as the bolded, isn't this the norm on most message boards?

Friday night session will be a HOT ticket!!!

2 great games there!

I disagree. Where there are teams out there that EC matches up better with, Elliott can matchup with either team decent.

It looks to me like Holmes has the toughest road overall if it plays out that they have to face Christian Co., then Scott Co, then EC/Mason Co winner; then Eastern. Certainly, a true state champion if they were to win 4 games of that caliber. Scott Co has similar tough road and what seems likely to be the toughest regional competition to even get there. If you view Holmes, Scott co and EC as the best 3 teams in the state (which I believe many do--although many other worthy strong teams in the field) then EC gets a tough draw by being in the loaded bottom bracket but the benefit of not having to beat both Holmes and Scott Co. whereas both Holmes and Scott Co. may have to beat both of the other two just to make the finals where they would have the least amount of rest between games at the end of the tourney which might allow Eastern or a weaker team from the top bracket to unexpectedly win state this year. I think any of the big 3 (and most or all the other teams in the bottom bracket for that matter) would trade draws with any of the teams in the top bracket. Should be an interesting tournament this year.
