Boys Sweet 16 Bracket

Featured Replies

Go back and check the scores. There haven't been many championship games that were blowouts.

I have been going to the state tournaments for 40 years and I can tell you that I have seen many uneventful championship games. Games where both teams walked the ball up court with neither team willing to full court press and play hard man-to-man defense. Most teams have resorted to play strictly zone defense because they didn't have the legs to play a man. Once again I say move the championship game to Sunday.

That draw is Elliott County's worst nightmare.

Beats last years draw. If EC is lucky enough to make the tourney, then they aren't coming for anything but a state championship. With that being said, your going to have to beat them eventually so I don't think the EC faithful is too worried about the draw. :thumb:

If I had to predict:

West Jessamin v Hazard

Owensboro v North Hardin

Fairdale v Paducah Tilghman

Eastern v Corbin

Scott Co v Warren Central

Holmes v Christian Co

Mason Co v Shelby Valley

Anderson Co v Elliott Co

The top bracket is tough to predict though as Hazard is the only real favorite to win their region. Every other region has 2-4 teams capable of winning the region.

Hazard actually isn't the favorite to win. Perry County Central would be the favorite. I think Hazard will win, but they aren't the favorite supposedly.

I agree. I actually think this is a pretty good draw for Elliott County.

not true at all! By the time some teams come out of the lower bracket they are worn out and never really display their best efforts in the championship game.

Now if people don't think the best 2 teams should meet in the finals, why in the world would they care if the two that do get there are at full strength? Come on this is the Ky SWEET SIXTEEN!! How dare ye think of changing what has been rite of passage for eons!!:lol:

Exactly what I was thinking!:lol::lol:

That bottom half is a gauntlet. It's going to be very hard for any team on the bottom portion to win it, they will be dead by Saturday night IMO. With that being said, I think Holmes still wins it, they can match up favorably with any team in the bottom half IMO, Scott will be the toughest test, Elliott will be fairly easy IMO-Elliott Fans begin your bashing now.

Why do they play the semis and final on same day?

As and Elliott supporter, I'm not going to bash anyone. You are entitled to your opinion. We will just worry about Morgan County, East and West for now :thumb:

Fair enough, I'm lucky enough to have gotten to watch Elliott and Holmes numerous times this season. That wasn't something thrown at EC fans without some thought; just to start an argument

I will say that in my opinon, if Elliott makes it to Rupp, I wouldn't overlook them.

Wow, the lower is loaded.

Hope all the other teams view it just like you do!

I'm not sure I agree with that. Assuming every region favorite wins and there are no upsets, EC would have to win the following games en route to the finals:

Round One: Anderson Co

Round Two: Mason Co/Shelby Valley

Semi's: Holmes/Scott Co

Then after slugging it out with either Holmes or Scott Co, they'd have to turn around 3 hours later and play most likely J'town or Eastern in the championship.

I don't think any bottom bracket team got a good draw. It's going to be brutal getting out of there.

Heck, even Scott Co and Holmes will have their hands full in the first round with Warren Central and Christian Co.
