How else would you go about drawing for the tournament?

But how would you handle district and region upsets with a seeding system? IMO this is the best way to do it, sure, some years you get a good draw, some years you don't it's all about the luck of the draw, and we all know it takes a little luck to win the state championship!:thumb:

Too tough to do that though because of all the different polls and rating systems out there.

I'll never understand it. They seed the districts and make it so a district loser plays a district winner in the regionals and do a blind draw in the state. I understand it gives lesser teams a fair chance to advance but what about the real basketball fans who want to see the 2 best teams in the finals, not meeting in a quarterfinal or semi.

 

You have to beat the best to win it. So what if it is game 1, 2, 3 or 4. I think there could be an argument made that you would want to play the best team possible in game 1. That gives you time to game plan and prepare for possibly your toughest opponent. And your team will be at it's best energy level.

True that. The best team won the tournament last year but Mason Co did have the luck of the draw in being able to avoid both Holmes and Lexcath until the finals.

I much rather face one of the top teams early in the tournament, as it gives you more time to prepare.

I agree it would be hard to do. We would have the same problem the BCS has. The big problem I really have with our state tourney is that a team could draw the last game on Thursday night and come back Friday night, Saturday morning and then Saturday night. That may have been an okay format for 60 years ago when the game was much slower paced. I would like to see the championship game moved to Sunday. Your thoughts??

Also, the championship game is almost always a competitive, entertaining game regardless of who gets there.

The lower bracket is tough, but remember there are always 2 or 3 teams that upset the regionals and crash the big dance.

Go back and check the scores. There haven't been many championship games that were blowouts.

I dunno. Scott Co is tough and if they do end up meeting in the second round, I'm sure SC will be out for revengance as Holmes is likely going to be the only KY team to beat them in the regular season IMO.

 

Time will tell. I do think this years champ comes out of the bottom bracket though.
