December 23, 200817 yr What's pathetic is that the Yankees asked for more public and government funding for their stadium, and then dropped all this money. That's what burns me. I don't like the Yankees spending like it's going out of style, but it is within the rules. But to ask for taxpayer's money when you clearly have more than enough of it pouring out your ears.... The funding they got was only for the road infrastructure outside the stadium. The stadium itself is privately funded...

My dad, uncle and I walked past the old Polo Grounds on our way to my first game at the stadium against the California Angels. I love all New York sports teams, but I have a special soft spot for the Yanks because when I was a kid, they stunk and no one rooted for them. I really have enjoyed the last 15 years of watching the Yanks.
