Have you happened to look at what they're charging their own fans? Its ridiculous. The everyday average fan can go to Yankee games. Season tickets are expensive at all ball parks, not just the new Yankee Stadium. A night at the ball park for the average New Yorker hasn't changed. Take a look at the stands! You can't fill the ball park every night like the Yankees do without the average New Yorker. I just don't understand why people bash a team that does everything they can to put a winning product on the field. The Yankees have a ton of money and they use it to produce a winning baseball team. The Yankees manage their baseball team the way all of us would if we were owners; they do what we would want all of the owners of our favorite teams to do. Heck, we don't even win every year like we did in the late 90's and early part of this decade. Why do people hate the Yanks so much? Teams have caught us. The Red Sox are run better. The Phillies are the WS Champs. The Rays won the division. What exactly is the problem?

December 24, 200817 yr How could you possibly think this is good for the game of baseball OR? I came to the realization that there are two types of teams you can pull for: Small Market and Big Market. I have enjoyed baseball a lot more since I decided to cheer for one of both. Baseball doesn't care that's why it is nowhere as good as it was when I was a kid. Everyday I was all about baseball growing up. Then I hated it after the strike from the greed. I have slowly been drawn back in. I think it's a shame that they don't care what kind of system they have in place but it's not like this is something knew. If they Yanks didn't pay him somebody I didn't like would have. That's just the way it is until baseball decides to wake up.

I was still saying we when I referred to the team. Then look at 1979 we won and when was the next time? 1996? And now 2000 was the last time, so lets do the math. 1964-1977=13 seasons 1979-1996=17 seasons 2000-2008=8 seasons We didn't do very well for 38 seasons since I followed the team, and I was a diehard all the time. Spend as much as it takes, the bottom line is winning.
December 24, 200817 yr The most talent does not always equal the best record, it is how you manage those players that wins. Pete Carol said somethin on 60 minutes which I think is true. The best players don't win, the hardest working players that practice the hardest and want it the most are the ones that win. This is why I think Joe Torre is one of the most underrated managers in baseball. Everyone seems to think that it's easy coaching talented teams. Most coaches will tell you that it's usually more difficult and Torre did it for years, with success...

Spend as much as it takes, the bottom line is winning. AL you're one of the Yankee fans on here that I have no doubt has rooted for the team for a long time, not just since the mid-late 90's. However, you need to brush up on your Yankees history. The Yankees didn't win the World Series in 1979. In 1979 the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Orioles in 7 games. The Yankees went back to back in 1977 and 1978. I remember that stretch from 1975-78 very well because the Red Sox had some very good teams through there and couldn't quite get past the Reds or the Yankees.

I don't hear anyone getting mad at Apple for putting out a new IPod and I Phone right before the holiday season. They have some nerve trying to better themselves as a company in this economic climate! They could have taken their money invested in research and development and fed 40,000 families! Please! I'm not insensative. I just want folks to scream about salaries all the time, not just after the team they root against signs a player to one of the richest salaries in sport.
