His son was just interviewed from Louisville on channel 19. He said his dad lost most of his hand. They asked if he had talked to his dad and he said that his mom had and dad told her to call him and tell him he is ok and to win state.

I hate to hear about this. My prayers go out to this gentleman, and I hope he overcomes this awful accident. It sounds like he's got a great attitude.

Terrible news... And my hats off to the kid. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to play football with one of my parents injured like that.

What a terrible accident, prayers go out from this household.

My heart is just sick over this terrible accident. Our joy in winning a state title is tempered (to say the least) by this injury. The man who was injured is one of the nicest, kindest people I know. No one deserves something like this; but it seems twice as bad when it happens to such a good guy -- especially on the heels of his son's injury.

 

All I ask is that we not speculate right now. There is a lot to this situation; and all the facts will be public knowledge soon enough. For now, let's just pray that he recovers as much as possible and that some good can somehow come of this for the family and the community.

 

I've purposely avoided using the word "tragic", because that would imply that all is lost. I know the man that was injured--and know that he is tough and resiliant. He will be okay. His life won't be just the same as it was yesterday; but it will be good again soon.

The news report is just saying severe burns, does anyone know if they were trying to save his hand?

 

Man I hope he recovers quickly, this just really stinks, I'm just glad it wasn't worse; hard to see the good in accidents like this, but it definitely could've been worse.

Agreed.

I do believe the FT school board will have no choice but to discontinue the cannon. Its not worth the risk.
