When I heard about this accident, the thought that someone may choose to discontinue this tradition did cross my mind.

This is absolutely awful. My prayers go out to the man, his son, and the rest of his family.

 

The use of the cannon needs to seriously be reconsidered after this. I understand the symbolism it stands for, and I respect it and I have been in house during games where it was used and it def. has an impact on the atmosphere, but it is NOT worth an injury such as this.

A few years back they had a slight injury to a football official; now, the news reports that a man lost his hand. They should discontinue shooting off the cannon. It is not safe!

Keep in mind folks that the cannon was used "out if it's usual elements", during the games it's fired in a totally safe place.

Relax, no one is trying to assume or stir up anything! As I said, my prayers go out to the injured father,I'm certainly not trying to stir anything up and don't appreciate the assumption on your part, it's doing no one any good. I'm on your side.
