December 5, 200817 yr Cat fans will Love Memphis. It is a great city. Enjoyed my trips to the Liberty bowl when the Cards played. Weather can be a little harsh.
December 5, 200817 yr Does anyone know where the stadium is in relation to downtown Memphis? I'm curious as to where a good spot for a hotel would be. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Stay at the Peabody, not sure exactly how close it is to the stadium but it is the safest and nicest hotel in Memphis.
December 5, 200817 yr With out Cobb, both of those teams might be more than UK could handle. With that in mind, I still think they'd take care of business. And as far as the weather goes, you guys could get lucky and it could be sunny and 70 like it was when Louisville went in '04.

December 5, 200817 yr I'm not disappointed at all if I look at the situation heading into the season. The disappointing part is looking at how close we came to pulling off a few more wins and seeing the mistakes that led to the Liberty Bowl. Still, I'll never be upset over a bowl game for the Cats. Another month of valuable practices and a great experience for the seniors and fans :thumb: :thumb: Brooks mentioned in his weekly call in show that the Seniors expressed interest in playing in a different atmosphere. Memphis may not have been high on their list, but like you said, it is hard to be dissapointed with a chance to play in a bowl game.

December 5, 200817 yr Tulsa's offense plays at 100 MPH all the time. I watched them play Marshall and I couldn't believe how fast they got players on and off the field. They also get there plays in and snapped quickly. Unlike UK, which gets there plays in slow, checks at the line and runs the plays. Tulsa checked at the line but not every play like UK. There defense was terrible though. Hartline should look better vs. Tulsa.

Heck no. I would much rather be sitting here with 7, 8 or 9 wins. But I am pleased about getting into the postseason. We get more practice time and that is good for the progression of the program'. I think he hit it right on the head. With that being said, ... if UK had last year's weapons on offense with this year's defense, we would probably be looking at 9-11 wins instead of 6-6. The only game I know they probably would have lost was UF but we caught them at the worst time, ... as they were peaking. But you have to play the hand you are dealt. UK has never been to 3 straight bowl games in my lifetime, so I am pleased as punch.
December 5, 200817 yr This bowl discussion (and not only in this thread but many others) kill me. For so long UK fans moan and groan and whine that their team can't get into a bowl game. Fast forward some years and since UK has been to 2 straight, UK fans are moaning and groaning again that they shouldn't be in a bowl. Have we come full circle or what? I have decided that UK fans no matter the sport can never be happy about anything the program is doing, it is always drama. I have been a die hard UK fan my entire life, basketball, football, baseball, cheelreading, etc. I however am not including myself this because I am happy that we are going bowling, I could care less what bowl it was because there is only 1 bowl game that even matters and that is the Nationall Championship Game. All of the other bowl games are just games, much like the Liberty Bowl, it is a chance to improve and progress the program and let the fans party. Not all UK fans are like this but for some who say I am a UK fan and then tries to put down this bowl opportunity is not really a fan, look in the mirror. I realize that UK's wins aren't that good, but once again it doesn't matter because you should be happy that they are bowling and use it as a time to celebrate and talk about how UK can win 4 straight bowl games the next year. Sorry to rant but I get tired of the moans and groans, regardless what the Cats do. If UK goes to a bowl game, SHAME. If UK doesn't go to a bowl game, SHAME. It is a lose - lose scenario. I wish UK would've upset Bama', they should've beat SC, UF embarrassed us, I cannot believe Vandy handled us and yes UT continues to roll over us. Guess what we are still going bowling, wouldn't you have liked to hear that every year in the 1990's? Like someone else mentioned, the Bowl tradition has been lost underneath all of the advertising and years of added bowls, therefore, we cannot compare this years Liberty Bowl to the 1959 Cotton Bowl, etc because it doesn't work that way. All bowls are basically the same now with the exception to the National Championship game, they are playing as the loser in the grand scheme of things and other than money in which UK is in no need of (in terms of desperation) the Liberty Bowl might as well have the Cotton Bowl stamped on it. I can understand UofL fans dis-crediting our season and not deserving to go bowling with our resume of 6 wins, but I cannot believe I see UK fans doing the same.
