I agree as long as ND is not in a conference I think that it will be hard for them to get things back on track. Why would a high school player go to ND over places like FL, USC, Miami and etc. IMO weather and beaches would have alot for me.

Comparing Notre Dame to Cincinnati is like comparing the Yankees and Rays baseball history and presitge. Note Dame is on a different level.

Because every home game he will play which in the next couple years is 7 home games and 3 away games for the Irish is on National TV. They usually have every away game on National TV too. Going into a conference would be a mistake. Notre Dame usually picks its bowl as well.

The challenge is that fans want the ND team of 1988(?) led by Tony Rice. The problem is that Tony Rice could not play at ND today - would never be admitted. That's a serious consideration.

I agree with you that you can't compare the history and presitge with both schools. But as long as they have those standards I don't care what coach you have it will be hard to win.

IMO Florida gave Myer the best chance at winning a national championship. He did and he may win his second this year.

 

ND now allows Myer to become a legend. If he can go in and restore the greatest football program in history, he will go down as a legend of the game!! It's all about situations, and this is a situation he will look at.

I don't find this all that surprising.

Family part aside, the UF situation was a far better gig than ND had at the present time. Ron Zook had recruited very well in his short stint, it just didn't translate into play on the field.

Notre Dame has admissions issues, but given Meyer's background, if he left, I would not be all that surprised.

Kerosotis I believe had a piece saying why Donovan would leave for UK as well, a few years back.

He likes to prey on Gator fans emotions.

ND beat writer on ESPN this morning said that, from what he was hearing, it didn't sound like Weis was going anywhere...yet. If this is going to happen, you would think that it would have been announced by now or will be very soon.

I can't see Meyer going...it's not the Notre Dame job of old. Meaning that the admission standards are much tighter than when Sweet Lou was there. If they loosen those, the job, again, becomes the #1 job in America.
