If there's one thing you KNOW about ND, it's that it is a quality education, and that the standards are exacting. You want to go there, you work. It shouldn't be any different for athletes.

Here's the problem there. Since they upped the standards after Holtz left, they have been average at best in football. When they are bad at football the University becomes a bit of a laughingstock in terms of national perception (right or wrong). So they can A) stop playing every week on national TV on their own network. B) win. Sounds like they are going with B...

December 1, 200817 yr I can't see Meyer going...it's not the Notre Dame job of old. Meaning that the admission standards are much tighter than when Sweet Lou was there. If they loosen those, the job, again, becomes the #1 job in America. I agree with you 100%. I think you also have to think about today's athlete. They haven't seen the Notre Dame teams a lot of us have seen that were elite. They have seen a lot of elite Florida teams. I know Myer coached at ND but let's be honest... if you put yourself in today's athletes shoes would you want to go to sunny Florida or dreary Northern Ind? I would be interested to see how BK's personality is taken at ND. Myer's spread is in the perfect situation IMO to be a National Champ every year in Fla. If you are going to coach college ball then I don't think you give up what he has right now.
December 1, 200817 yr IMO,if you have never been to ND it would be hard to understand why a player may go there .The campus still has the mystique ,the tradition and the "WE ARE N D ! " I know recent (or more) years have been down.The tradition still lives on that campus more so than others, I would say. Go Irish !! and Go Tigers !!

December 1, 200817 yr Anyone hear Corso going on about the Catholic Church taking up collection to buy him out. I thought he took it a little far but maybe not I am Catholic and there was no collection taken up at my church for this. BUT, we do have more UK fans than ND fans at my church!
