The Birds were in Death Valley today hitting the sleds and doing their agility drills.

Bluebirds soar into semifinals:

Even though Johnson Central ran 60 offensive plays to Highlands' 36, the Bluebirds were able to hold on to a 35-21 victory in the Class 5A state quarterfinals last Friday night in Paintsville.

 

....The win puts Highlands in the Class 5A state semifinals, where the team will be forced to play Whitley County on the road at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 5.

 

"We have a lot of respect for them. Like Johnson Central, they have a really solid running attack. They are a really hard-nosed football team, they play a number of guys both ways and those guys play really well the whole game," Mueller said.

 

The winner of that game will play either Christian County or John Hardin in the Class 5A state finals on Dec. 12 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.

It was a little dark down there. And I think the sprinklers were on too. Who says HHS doesn't have great facilities. Where else can you have Turf and grass and be able to simulate weather conditions. Naturally or not. :banana:

You know the one thing that cracks me up on BGP? When posters come on here and say we might not beat HHS, but our boys will let them know what hit them. Or we won't give up till the last whistle. HELLOOO!!! What else is expected out of any kid playing football. Isn't that what you are supposed to do. Nobody at HHS or any other school expects a team to just show up and lay down. Whitley will, I assume, come ready to play

 

There were some questions before about kids going both ways. I know HHS plays about 19 or so on offense and defense collectively. How many and who goes both ways for Whitley?
