I had read 6 pages worth of predictions and discussion and have come to realize that picking HHS in anything resembling a close game is a real insult to some. Someone from NKY picked HHS by only a TD and it is considered a sign of disrespect? Simply amazing.

We all have our opinions. Many people feel that HHS should be favored by more than a touchdown. I don't think these same people are offended by opinions to the contrary. They just don't see it as accurate to pick a close game. In any case, the team itself will come in expecting the toughest battle of their football careers. They will work as hard and as smart as they have to in order to come out victorious. If they do that, I'm confident that they will win this game.

The post you've quoted did not pick HHS in a close game. It picked Whitley to win. The reason predictions against HHS from NKY posters draws negative reaction is that many of us like to stick together as a region when it gets to this stage in the season. For example, I'm rooting for Simon Kenton, NCC and Beechwood to win. That's what it's about.

 

Now if someone objected to a prediction of HHS winning a close game, I think that can be chalked up to enthusiasm and confidence. As I explained above, they just don't see it as accurate to pick a close game.

 

But honestly, I don't think we should have to explain ourselves. Let's just wait to see what happens on the field -- that's all that really matters.

I believe the last post quoted referred more to WC putting up 40 on HHS rather than them winning. I'm as conservative a Bird fan as they come and believe this will be another hard fought and pretty close game. While I wouldn't be shocked if Whitley pulls it out, I would be if they scored 40 doing it.

No way did Highlands every lose to a mountain team. It could not have happened. You must be mistaken.

Your right, Rockcastle is on the west side of I-75. We up north don't consider the Rock's a mountain team.:laugh:

National powerhouse Colerain couldn't put 40 on the board, It's a stretch to think WC can do it in 2 games.

Yup. (And I should know since it was my post.)

I was able to see the video of the WC vs Pulaski and WC vs Rockcastle games tonight.

 

The Colonels are a bit smaller and a bit quicker than JC. They throw the ball a little more. Their backs have break away speed and the QB can get the ball downfield. Solid O & D lines with good speed in the secondary.

 

For the second straight week, this is going to be a real test for the Birds. It will take a near perfect game and a couple of breaks to get by the Colonels on their home turf.

 

Good luck to both teams...no injuries and hopefully Highlands picks up their tickets to the Ville.
