Ashland has been the prototypical underdog this season…mostly due to a sub par performance in 2007. However, if the Tomcats had gone 10 – 0 in this regular season, I’m certain they would still be underdogs when playing the mighty Bluebirds. (BTW…wish you guys had a more formidable name, after all, how can one get mad at a bluebird anyway?) It would be great to have Highlands come to Putnam for this game…but that’s only wishful thinking. Also wishful thinking is pondering the odds Ashland faces this Friday as well. It doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination or some form of fortune telling to know that the Tomcats have an uphill battle to compete in this playoff game.

I’m not sure what the ending score will be, but I AM certain of this. At the sound of the final horn, both teams will know they have been in a football game. Ashland will not quit and that is one of the characteristics of this team I most admire. So to Highlands I say, I don’t care if you have 17 or 1700 State Championships…I don’t care if you beat the Tomcats by 100 points…you could beat us a thousand times and we will keep coming back at you with everything we have. Wake up call or not from last weeks lucky win…you will be in for a fight this Friday, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. To be the best, you beat the best.

We'd be unbearable...

We'd be unbearable...

LOL...I think you passed unbearable at #2. Hey...If I had it, Id strut it too stickymitt.

I find it quite amazing that 40 people have picked Ashland to win...:eek:

If you have followed Highlands through these BGP threads, you probably do find it amazing. In fact, at the time of this posting, the Ashland count was up to 47. In the category of “worthless information” the only group of “believers” close to that number was during the Highlands / Central thread when 37 diehards picked against the Bluebirds. Next in line was Cov Cath at 30…Lex Cath at 21 and so on…

Hey Highlands….how about spotting us a few points for having the most folks willing to vote in a prediction poll against you.

Bryan Station played a very good game last Friday. As for the lucky part about Highland's win I believe that Dale practice's the 2 minute drill every week for situation's such as what happen last Friday. Do I believe it was a closer game than predicted, yes. Do I think the players are preparing for a hard fought game this Friday, yes. I believe this will be a good game this Friday, I just hope were are lucky enough to beat ya!

Great post Painter! Very well said. GO Tomcats!!!

We'd be unbearable...

:lol: We (Raceland) don't have any and some say that we are unbearable.

Do I care........?? No. :D That is why fans are fans and our teams are our teams.

Mitts, I believe that a few Yankee fans like you and I have been accused of that at times as well......:D:thumb:

My use of the word luck was not a negative connotation…I was taught long ago that “luck” occurs when preparation meets opportunity. Highlands won that game and it was not necessarily due to some oblique twist of fate. As you mentioned, practicing a 2 minute drill (preparation) put the Birds in a position to come from behind (opportunity) to win the game fair and square.

I look for Highlands to make a statement this week. Too many people are throwing the L word at them.

Both Ashland and Highlands got physical with Dixie Heights!

If any of you Tomcat fans need directions to Ft. Mitchell, just say the word. ;)

Just trying to rile up LRCW a little more.

Yeah, but Highlands did it with the #'s 3 & 4 running backs and Dixie did all of their scoring against the second and third team defenses. This is a different Highlands team, especially if Conner is getting closer to playing shape. After last week it will be first team all the way from here on out.:ylsuper:

I agree. Let em' though. Just makes it that much sweeter when Highlands "leaves no doubt" in the second half... :D:sssh:

I'm not sure the focus of the event involves "plates." :D;)

You never know what food is going to show up: chili, jambalaya, Whiteys, cheese coneys, pizza, tenderloin sandwiches, steak ka bobs and of course the old traditionals of burgers, metts (sorry about the hot ones last week Boom) and hot dogs. I'll bring the grill again. Besides being useful to cook food, it will be a great source of warmth this Friday night. LRCW, I hope you and other Ashland fans can join us. The Ashland fans seem like one of the nicest group of posters on here and it would be great to meet some of you all.
