Larkey and Mitchell have a great amount of mutual respect for each other. I believe the Black Bears will win, but this is great matchup with 2 legendary coaches.

Did any of the turnovers result in points fo HC? One would think that if the D gave you six take-aways that the O should be in great shape to get a big win. IMHO

 

I honestly have no idea. The defense scored on one of them theirselves, an INT return. The offense scored 26 points so I'm sure 1 or 2 turned into scores. I know that 2 of the turnovers occured inside the 20 yard line, so either way 80 yards or more were required to score.

Is this like a Rivalry?

 

Really hard to say. 1st meeting, but LC had some wars with Cumberland and Evarts over the last few decades. I guess it could be viewed as a rivalry if we can win one or two against them. I could see some aspects of a rivalry game in this matchup.

 

Larkey and Mitchell is a great matchup. Both have played/coached/seen lifetimes of football between them. I agree, MT, tons of respect between the two. This should really be an entertaining game. :thumb:

When a small school playes a big school I can't help but to pull for the small school. The thing that worries me about the numbers game is that when you get tired your technique gets sloppey and when that happens it opens the door to injury.

 

I think LC can play with HC but I think Lynn Camp will wear down late, if Lynn Camp can jump on them early they could hang on and win.

One thing to consider, LC generally had good success against Cumberland and Evarts, and when you add Cawood to the mix and make one team out of three the athletes add up. Simple math may make it hard for LC to compete. I hear that HC has somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 dressing, and yes only 11 can play at a time but when you have those types of number to choose from it makes it alot easier to get a bunch of athletes and "playmakers" on the field.

I didn't mean anything. I was just saying I wouldn't use numbers as an excuse (from your thread above mine.) I figure that would be the excuse most would try to use.

The Bears looked awfully good against a quality Letcher Central team, Lynn Camp should provide another test for them but I think the Bears should win. But I have preached on here using the phrase "That is why they play the games" wouldn't it be boring if we just got together on here on Fridays and picked winners?

 

I also hope to cut down on some of the mistakes, we had 15 penalties at Letcher Central, I'm sure Coach Larkey has reviewed them and may already have the kinks worked out!

Harlan Co. and LC fans look for TJ Green to have a big game @ RB. This will be Green's first game of the season.

35-13 Harlan Co. Too much speed and strength for the Campers.

Playing Cumbelrand or Evarts close isn't the samething as playing them combined. Then throw in Cawood and it gets even tougher. Also, I've always thought the Harlan County schools were poorly coached (other than when Tim Saylor was there), they always had more athletes and players than records indicated. Put all those together and throw in a top five coach in Kentucky and I don't see a close game.

 

Lynn Camp has always used games like this to get better for their district and they will. But in this one, Harlan 42 Lynn Camp 14.

Both teams are well coached but Harlan has to much talent.

If the blowout predictions hold true, and this is only the first year of their (HCHS)existence, Lynn Camp may want to re-think scheduling this team in the future.

Blackbears only going to get better and tougher for the small schools to handle. One sided games for the likes of most "A" and 2A teams.

 

Not to say "dodge" them in the future, but if the Bears reach potential, it's a sure fire way to a Loss for us and just a lot of playing time for the younger Blackbear kids late. It would probably be better for the Bears to remove us after next season and add a few Lexington or Louisville teams to test them more. The way that numbers are looking and the talent pool is apparentlly growing, they'll be out of most of the mountain teams leauge, anyway.

I think Bears win this one and should easy. I am concerned about a few things from last few weeks that I have seen. The Bears seem to play good starting out and will get a good lead, but allows the team to come back. It's like Bears relax with a lead when they should drive the nails in the coffin as my old coach would say and kick them when their down. They need to come out with more fire and heart. And they need to be in better shape which they were not against LCC. The 2nd half they was not attacking the ball on D. Also they need to control the QB I thought that there were several times he could have got a flag and should have. I thought the coaches needed to jerk him to the side and talk with him. Being that said I think they will get on track and have a good year I hope. Bears win 52-14 this week. GO BEARS !!!!!!!!!:dancingpa
