August 12, 200818 yr I am excited to see who the players are, anything is better than nothing of shelling out over 15 mil per season next year. The amazing thing is that he cleared waivers, and no one tried to block this deal. It is very telling...

August 12, 200818 yr I think you are looking way too far in to that angle. Only 8 teams had a chance before he got to Arizona... Not according to Doc: The optimum would have been for the Reds to move Dunn before the trade deadline. Nobody wanted him. That’s why Mark Teixeira was dealt, and Jason Bay and Manny Ramirez and Xavier Nady, while the Big Donkey stayed a Red. Dunn’s value was always seen as greater in Cincinnati than elsewhere. To be dealt to Arizona, Dunn had to clear waivers. Any other club could have claimed him and the trade would not have been made. None did. Because J.P. Ricciardi was wrong to say what he said about Dunn doesn’t mean what he said was wrong. You could say the rest of Major League Baseball was being nice to the Reds and the Diamondbacks. Or you could suggest Dunn ain’t all that. I suggest the latter...

August 12, 200818 yr Arizona claimed him in the 9 spot as I understand it... That would be correct. There are 6 teams with better records than the D'backs. The Cardinals, Cubs, Brewers, Phillies, Mets and Marlins. That would mean that 8 teams had a chance before the D'backs.
August 12, 200818 yr I'll be schocked if Scherzer is in the deal ... now Owings I can see. Heck, he's a better hitter than some of the guys already on the Reds' roster.
August 12, 200818 yr Reds fans would go insane over Scherzer... I signed him to my fantasy baseball team right after he came up. He was very effective until going back down to the ML and now coming off an injury. Big dominant guy who throws smoke. Farewell to Dunn we all knew it was coming. If the Reds get Scherzer I love it.

August 12, 200818 yr I won't be suprised if the Reds dont win 10 games the rest of the year now. And???
August 12, 200818 yr I won't be suprised if the Reds dont win 10 games the rest of the year now. What't the big deal? They werent making the playoffs anyway.
August 12, 200818 yr Now can someone please tell me why Corey Patterson is still on the roster and Chris Dickerson is not being given a month and a half to show what he can do? I would release Patterson, put Dickerson in CF, put Votto in LF, and give Rosales a chance at 1B for the rest of the year. This is the lineup I would run out there every game. Dickerson CF Keppinger SS Bruce RF Phillips 2B Votto LF E-5 3B Rosales 1B Haningan C E-5 3B very funny:laugh::laugh::laugh:
August 12, 200818 yr What took them so long? He should have been the first to go year's ago! I may even try to see a Red's game now.
