August 11, 200818 yr The D-backs radio guy is 700wlw. He says it's a terrible trade. On the contrary Tracy Jones, Marty and all Reds people all agree that it was a good move for the Reds. The D-backs man says Buck was a 3 round pick, had TJS last June. He said the guy was on the radar, and is a decent prospect but not close to being MLB ready. The surgery was two years ago as I understand it. It was discovered the night before the 2006 draft when he was expected to be a 1st rounder...
August 11, 200818 yr Problem is they would have had to offer arbitration, and would have been in a very bad spot if he accepted...Only for a one-year deal, if worse came to worse ...
August 11, 200818 yr Anyone want to go watch the Toledo Mud Hens this weekend? We'll get a better show up there
August 11, 200818 yr Only for a one-year deal, if worse came to worse ... Except they clearly wanted to move on, and his market value isn't exactly blowing doors off...
August 11, 200818 yr Problem is they would have had to offer arbitration, and would have been in a very bad spot if he accepted... Probably would've accepted, and you are right. It would've been a bad spot.
August 11, 200818 yr I'm going to say, I am leaning towards thinking this might be a good move for the Reds.
August 11, 200818 yr I'm going to say, I am leaning towards thinking this might be a good move for the Reds. I like it...
August 11, 200818 yr I'm going to say, I am leaning towards thinking this might be a good move for the Reds. I would have been happy had the Reds traded him for a bat boy. The fact that they might get some decent players in return is a bonus. Now the Reds will have a bunch of money to spend in the off season, while the free agent market might not be the best this year. At least they have some room to do things if they wanted to.
August 11, 200818 yr Except they clearly wanted to move on, and his market value isn't exactly blowing doors off...Again, it depends on the PTBNLs ...
August 11, 200818 yr A new rookie catcher and no true #1 starter. We have no proven power hitter in a hitters dream ball park. WOW Go Reds!!
August 11, 200818 yr :confused: Yeah kinda messed up there. I know there is no salary cap in baseball, I meant to just say free up 20 million in salary.
