August 11, 200818 yr How anyone can say they don't like this trade right now is laughable. It certainly marks a new era for the Reds that I am pretty excited about.

August 11, 200818 yr How many times have we heard that before.... I think we are nearing 82, if you count General Manager and Coaching changes.
August 11, 200818 yr Well let's hope Dunn goes on a tear for the D'Backs over the next month and a half so the two PTBNL the Reds receive in return will be the best possible players they can get. I'll bet you that Dunn will be playing RF for the Astros next year.
August 11, 200818 yr How many times have we heard that before.... Normally I would agree but I have never seen young talent like this here before and the youth movement leads to me believe there are better days ahead.

They have Bruce, Phillips, Votto, Cueto, Volquez, and Burton. I'm not sure you can count on anyone else from their farm system.

August 11, 200818 yr What happened to In Bruce We Trust? It's funny how much people flip flop. Heck there was even a Bruce for Hanley Ramirez thread if you would make the trade or not. I like the direction the Reds are going!
August 11, 200818 yr "Write This Down" is my line... Liberally lifted from Van Wilder's dad, of course ...

I like the direction the Reds are going! Bruce is going to be great. 2 10+ hitting steaks in the last 30 games or so. I have plenty of faith in him.
August 11, 200818 yr How long do they have to name the PTBNL's? In most cases the Reds and D'Backs have already agreed on a group of players the Reds can choose from. They probably have a couple of players in let's say group A, and a couple in group B. It will depend on Dunn's performance on what group they can choose from.
August 11, 200818 yr I was thinking the same thing, you figure he will sign with them in the off season. Oh my. RF? That would be an adventure:banana:

I'll bet you that Dunn will be playing RF for the Astros next year. They do tend to trade/sign and overpay older players or "stars" to "help" their team. They were in nearly last place when they traded a prostepct for the aging Randy Wolfe!!! What was the use of trading for Tejada when they need pitching help SEVERELY?! I could go on all day about how the Astros's front office is much much worse than the Reds in many levels. But I can see Dunn there. That would be a good outfiend with Pence, Dunn, and Lee, added to Tejeda and Berkman, but if you don't have pitching and your ace is barely at .500, and you trade valuable young parts for the future for a pitcher that will help you this year only just to fight to get to your team to .500 on the season.
