August 11, 200818 yr Bruce is going to be great. 2 10+ hitting steaks in the last 30 games or so. I have plenty of faith in him. I agree, he is a rookie, and still hitting around .280, better than most of the Reds lineup. Next year, Votto will be the Cleanup hitter, Bruce will bat 3rd, and Phillips 2nd. Leadoff, who knows, and probably the inconsistent Encarnacion will probably bat 5th and hopefully he will improve his average in the off season. That is something to build around. Bring in a few FA and you have yourself a young lineup, young rotation, and maybe the mix for a good season.
August 11, 200818 yr Now can someone please tell me why Corey Patterson is still on the roster and Chris Dickerson is not being given a month and a half to show what he can do? I would release Patterson, put Dickerson in CF, put Votto in LF, and give Rosales a chance at 1B for the rest of the year. This is the lineup I would run out there every game. Dickerson CF Keppinger SS Bruce RF Phillips 2B Votto LF E-5 3B Rosales 1B Haningan C
August 11, 200818 yr Per CTR... When judging the Adam Dunn trade, don't forget the two players to be named. The one player announced was Dallas Buck and the other two players have to be minor leaguers. However, those two players to be named are on the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster, a source tells The Lot D. The Reds wouldn't have done the deal without getting a Major League-ready pitcher. That means it's either Micah Owings, Max Scherzer or Jailen Peguero. If it's Owings or Scherzer, does that change your opinion of the deal? Expect the other to be a position player, which would be catcher Wilkin Castillo or one of two first basemen, Javier Brito or Josh Whitesell.
August 11, 200818 yr If its Scherzer or Owings this is a phenomenal trade. Although Owings has been terrible the second half of this year.
August 11, 200818 yr Author And you are way off base... I see it the same way as you and did back then. I don't remember you talking down to people either, but I'm not going back through to check. Virtually every player goes through the same process in August. Have to agree completely. Thanks for the backup guys. :thumb:

I'd take Whitesell and Scherzer as the PTBNL in a heartbeat. I'd even just take one of the two.
August 12, 200818 yr Author I like this trade even more if one of the two is Owings or Scherzer... :thumb:
August 12, 200818 yr And you are way off base...Admirable for you to try to back him up...but completely wrong. Just let the boy take his lumps on this one.
August 12, 200818 yr Admirable for you to try to back him up...but completely wrong. Just let the boy take his lumps on this one. He was 100% right, and you're just trying to call him out on something that isn't there. What happened to "onward and upward"???
August 12, 200818 yr You'd think that'd be your last post after the "onward & upward". Just couldn't resist could ya? It's too easy.
