That so far the Reds have failed with Dunn, and there is really no reason to think they will succeed with him. I'd throw Jr in here also, but everyone seems to agree he needs to go.

 

 

I'll concede that the Reds have failed to make the playoffs with Dunn on the roster, and he probably won't be on the roster the next time the Reds make the playoffs because I'm sure he'll be gone by the end of the year. Does that make you happy? Does that mean he's to blame? IMO No. Is A-Rod to blame for the Yankees not winning the World Series since he's been there? And no I'm not comparing Dunn to A-Rod.

It may be, but the Reds have already more than gotten back their investment on Hariston. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

I bet Arizona would. They are really struggling for offense, and need a LF since Byrnes is done for the year.

 

If Arizona is going to give up a legitimate prospect or two, they will do it for a more established player than Hairston.

You would be surprised. I think two prospects is stretching it, but I feel a AA prospect would be worth the risk for them. I'm sure they are really kicking themselves for trading Carlos Quinten in the offseason for a single A prospcet.

When I look at Hairston's home-road breakdown, the idea of a team giving up a prospect for him becomes even more laughable. He has a 1.138 OPS at GABP and barely half that on the road. Which means that, like Scott Hatteberg, much of his "production" is due to the ballpark.

Due to the ballpark? Maybe if he was a home run hitter, but I don't see how you could attribute Hairstons' hits to the ballpark.

What logic are you using? How is the world would a small ballpark benefit a guy like Hairston.

I would be interested in trading CoCo Cordero also. Move Jared Burton (or Bill Bray) to closer and see how that goes.

OK you quoted me like 5 or 6 times, and I still fail to see where I said the D'Backs would part with a legitimate prospect. Yes I did quote westsider a couple of times where he had wrote legitimate prospect in his post, and maybe I should have been more clear when quoting him. There are marginal prospects at AA. When you followed up his quotes it made it sound like you were talking about getting a legitimate prospect back for Hairston.

In all seriousness, I would be willing to trade Cordero, for the right price. We're paying him around $12 million, correct? Self-proclaimed small market teams don't win with a $12 million closer. Admittedly, I'm looking too far down the road and this, CoCo's 1st season in Cincy, isn't the time to deal him. But my wheels upstairs are turning (sometimes too fast ).

 

As overrated as the saves statistic is, it's hard for me to justify giving a closer that much more money than everyone else. Hopefully Jared Burton & Billy Bray will continue to pitch well & you guys will see the light. :banana:

Thank you. Yes, the Reds can and will win without Adam Dunn. Maybe as soon as next year. No I do not soley blame him. But he has been a part of what has not worked here.
