Blind? I can see just fine. The Reds are a very bad team. As for the pitching getting better: The Reds pitching staff has allowed at least 5 runs in 14 of their past 25 games.

 

As for getting better, well Washington tends to make a lot of teams look good.

 

In atleast 2 of those two runs were given up in the 9th inning. Taking the number down to 12. Which is exactly the number of wins the Reds have in the last 25. Obviously 12-13 is better than the reds have done the rest of the season. When they get good pitching they win games. That's the only point i'm trying to make. Pitching is what wins. I don't see how you can disagree with that.

It does win but my point is it hasn't been that much better. Last time I checked they play 9 innings so all those runs count so the TEAM has allowed at least 5 runs in 14 out of 25 games and that is not good. If you're going to throw out those two games because the runs were scored in the 9th then you should throw out 3 games below 5 runs and 4 wins against the Nationals who only AVERAGE 3.6 runs per game.

If you don't perform against Major League hitting, you'll get hit. Ask any pitcher. You must have a quality outing to keep teams in check. Even Washington has plenty of games where they score 5-6 runs. They just score 1 or 0 more than they should. You have to have your good stuff to shut down major league hitting, and that's what the Reds pitchers had during that series...and for the better part of the last 2 weeks.

Let's see, so far after 2 games against a real Major League team the pitching has surrendered 10 Earned Runs in 16 innings for a 5.62 ERA, the offense has generated 4 total runs for 2.0 per game and the defense has made 3 errors. Like I said earlier--they just stink in all facets of the game. :thumb:

Cueto pitched a heck of a game. He got a few bad breaks. Very easily could have been a 2-1 game. If you can't see that then there's nothing I can say.

Cueto pitched okay but he did allow 10 baserunners, 4 earned runs and another homerun in 6.2 Innings. That's passable, not great. Besides it takes more than just starters to have an effective--it takes the whole staff. You just saw the difference in the pathetic Nationals and a real ball club. The Cubs can take advantage of small breaks. Besides it was an all-around effort the last two nights. The team can't hit, pitch or field.

Chicago is a much better team that the Reds. Thats obvious. Any LF'er in the league catches that ball except Dunn. He catches it and its a 2-1 game going into the 8th. It didn't happen, so the outcome is much different. Cincinnati just faced two pitchers who haven't lost at home this year. They need to come out and play tomorrow, then take 2 of 3 from the Brewers for a successful road trip. All of which is still very much in reach.

Weathers allowed one of those runs to score from first, with two outs. Cueto didn't get much defensive help either. I thought he pitched a good game, considering the heat the line-up he was facing. He might of pitched one inning too long.

Cueto pitched a serviceable game. Again whether its 5-1 or 2-1 it's an L. Thats all that matters

Not many teams have the potential the Reds rotation have. You have to expect Harang to return to form in the second half. Volquez has pitched well all year, Cueto has been lights out the past few starts and Arroyo has been pitching well. That continues and they will be in the race come September. Simple as that.
