All I'm saying is for you to lay all the blame at Dunn's feet for their failure to win the division in 2006 simply isn't right. Take a look at the players you just listed. Do you honestly think a pitcher was going to give Dunn much of an opportunity to do anything?
July 8, 200818 yr I don't see any team winning with a player like Dunn as a focal point of their offense...Not the entire problem, but a large chunk of it IMO. This is the entire problem. If Dunn were the 2nd or 3rd banana in the offense then you've got a good offense. When the team depends on him to be their main run producer then you've got a problem. If Bruce, Votto, Phillips and Encarnacion can increase their production then it becomes easier to bear Dunn's shortcomings.

July 8, 200818 yr I'd be interested to listen in on a deal for Hairston... Very true, I'm sure there is some team that could use a bonafide leadoff man. But if we are looking to make a run next year, we might want to keep him around as a centerfielder/utility man.

July 9, 200818 yr Very true, but the #1 and #2 run producers on most winning clubs can hit the sac fly to tie the game or hit the ball to the opposite field when needed. Dunn just simply doesn't do those things. It's HR or bust for him. You mean its HR, walk, score a run, drive in a run, or bust right?

July 9, 200818 yr If they continue to get quality pitching from the starters, the race will come down to the wire for the Reds. Mark it down. But the pitching must continue to perform like it has the last week or so. Pitching wasn't great. Offense was horrible. That's what's killing this team.
