Cincinnati Reds: Buyers or Sellers?

Featured Replies

FWIW, Hal McCoy says the Reds shoudl keep Dunn.

Kent Mercker echoed the same sentiments during the tv broadcast the other night. He said fans are crazy if they think the Reds can replace his offensive numbers, and what he means to the team.

Maybe the Reds can find someone to take Homer Bailey off their hands....That would be a nice trade deadline present.

No point in moving him now. Might as well let him work things out if he can.

I just puked. I am so sick of the replacing his number thing. He is not leading any offensive category. Maybe close in walks.

Well, I digress. If Hal says so then it must be. Journalist without an agenda? Wow.

I would challenge you to show where Hal has an agenda. Your generalization might have legs but not in this case.

I didn't realize that HR's and slugging % were no longer offensive categories. :D he's top 3 in RBI, 4 behind Phillips's 56, 2nd behind Hairston in OBP. He is definitely their top offensive player.

BP is their best offensive and defensive player, IMO. I am indifferent on Dunn anymore. I like his production, but hate spending that kind of money on a "streaky" guy batting in the .220's.

Griffey or Dunn one has to go, you can't have 30 million dollars hitting and average of .230. Not to mention the fact that neither one of them having blazing speed or decent range.

Griffey will be gone at the end of the year.

Actually after doing some research on Dunn's contract the list of 10 teams are teams that he CAN'T be traded to without his permission. This is supposed to include the big-market teams.

I've posted these before, but here are the updated categories

Here we go:

Walks #1 great

HRs tied for 4th great

OBP 24th OK

Slugging % 32nd OK

RBI 35th OK

Runs 82nd ouch

SOs 5th ouch

You tell me. Irreplaceable??

Griffey will be gone at the end of the year.

Not even debatable.

I think Dunn would love to be a Ranger or Astro. It would've been nice to of unloaded Dunn instead of Hamilton, for Volquez. I can see Boston or NYY making a big push for Dunn, to make a big splash and run at the Rays.

To me, it is not a matter of Dunn and production. It is a matter of $$$ and what is best for the Reds.

It wasn't an option. Texas was looking for a centefielder.

Bottom line is key for the Reds. :thumb:

How do you blame Dunn for being 82nd in runs? He has been on base more than anybody on the team. He can't drive himself in.

wishful thinking ;)
