July 7, 200818 yr Hairston hasn't been healthy in a long time WS.Maybe so, but he isn't as good as he's been this year. Neither is he as bad as he was in 2006 and 2007. He's a 32-year-old utilityman, and those guys don't bring much on the open market. Heck, the Reds brought him in as a non-roster player. His value hasn't gone up that much in the last three months.

I'm sure they are really kicking themselves for trading Carlos Quinten in the offseason for a single A prospcet.So why compound the error why trading a legitimate prospect for Hairston?

Max Scherzer is probably too good already, but you get the point...If that's what you're looking for, you'll be stuck with Hairston. There ain't no "probably wouldn't" about it ... the Diamondbacks would laugh you out of the room with that offer.

I'm not sure he'd re-sign after the year, so I'd be willing to deal him as well. Should be an interesting couple of weeks for the Reds. I think we'll see a lot of moves made in the near future.
