Arrez Henderson

Featured Replies

Henderson has a lot of small DI-AA offers and a few D2 offers from schools like NKU.

The question with him is can he play a PG spot, which he'd have to do since he's only 6'1. No doubt in my mind he could play D1. Very athletic and plays great defense.

Arrez wants to play D1 though, so he'll probably end up at one of the small D1 schools recruiting him.

Unfortunately, that's his biggest problem in the world of DI recruiting. No doubt Arrez is a very good player, but at the big time DI schools, there isn't much demand for a 6'1 forward, and I'm not sure his ball handling skills are good enough right now to play at a guard spot.

ER, I was just curious; since we all know where Knowles ended up. Nothing wrong with being a role player on a high-visibility team. And I thought they played each other last year, with Clark County winning a close one, so maybe someone saw them on the same floor.

I agree. And last year WAS Henderson's junior year. ;)

I have enjoyed reading the variety of critiques on Arrez Henderson.

Personally, from only watching him only in the Sweet Sixteen the last couple of years, I absolutely love this kid. He is a very unique player. He does have big Division I ability, in my opinion, because he is such a unique player. "bellallumni40" has made some great points about why he is not high Division I and I understand why he has that opinion, but I disagree. This kid is a winner.......regardless of his height shortcomings!

I will honestly say that if I were picking from among all the Sweet Sixteen players as to who I could pick to be my first choice in starting a winning all-star team, I TAKE ARREZ HENDERSON, with my first pick. And yes, that includes several of the so called high school all-Americans in the tournament.

Arrez Henderson has the "uncoachable" intangibles, and lots of them.

I don't know why a D1 school would not take a chance on Arrez. From what I've seen of him and heard about him he is the type of kid any coach would want. He works his tail off every day, is an incredible athlete (which by the way does not just grow on trees), has one of the most unselfish attitudes for a high school "star" I've ever witnessed. He thinks defense first and foremost and does not get caught up in "I" have to score my points. He has never had to play the point in high school because of talented players (Jefferson, Avery) that is just where they fit into their team better than at the two where as Areez fit better in Holmes scheme as a two guard. This kid is just a flat out winner and who's to say with a couple of years seasoning he could not play the point in college. Other than their three point shooting ability who would you of rather had on you team Travis Ford, Patrick Sparks, or Arrez who would run circles around both of them.

Arrez Henderson's statue reminds me of Quinn Buckner. Wide body, mediocre shooter, good defender, and a great leader. Arrez is a more explosive athlete.

Quinn Buckner had a little success about thirty years ago.

Henderson actually pretty much shut Knowles down when they faced Henderson's junior year.

As far as how they compare:

Defensively, Henderson is much better.

Offensively, Knowles has a better shot but Henderson is stronger and a better finisher around the basket as well as rebounder.

Athletically I'd say they're about the same. Knowles might be a little quicker.

I think you are selling Preston Knowles short...he was darn good at GRC and is at UL.

No doubt. He comes in and gives UL very good minutes offensively and defensively. Preston has the potential to be a top notch player at a top notch school in a few years. I just dont see that out of Henderson

Bottom line, I have seen so many very talented defensive players over the years. The ones who didnt have the offensive skill set to go along with that never made it to D1 or if they did they never played more than mop up duty or they left after a year or two.

How about West Virginia for Arrez?

He looks like a Bobby Huggins player to me! I have thought of another player with a game very similar to Arrez. Rumeal Robinson who won a national championship at the University of Michigan. The knock on Rumeal was..........he can't shoot.

Good Luck Mr. Henderson! And thanks for all the great plays and high school memeories. My favorite one was, In the state championship game when he stole the ball at half court, dribbled behind his back and went down and dunked the ball with both hands. That was a play that made you feel proud about Kentucky high school Basketball. Thanks and good luck!!

I think some are going to be very very surprised to find out where Arrez ends up.

Still early...but love what I am hearing.

Now you have me curious if you are hearing what I am hearing? If so then I agree there will be some surprised. If you don't want to say anything in public shoot me a pm.

Can someone let me in on the secret through a PM maybe???

That is an interesting idea. If you can play good hard nosed man to man defense and are willing to hustle and give maximum effort Bob can find a spot for you.

I think Arrez can play D1 without a doubt. Even though he is 6-1 or 6-2, he play s way above the rim. I have seen this kid play quite a few times, and his work ethic is tremendous. Arrez will not let anyone tell him he can not do anything. He is an achiever, he will succeed. There are very successful players at the D1 and NBA levels that have been 6-1 or 6-2, don't let height full you. Arrez is a very patient play and lets the game come to him, but also has the ability to take over a game at anytime. Not to mention, he proved in the tournament the he can definitely shut you down on defense if he chooses to do so. Just ask the boy from Lex. Cath. that pretty much watched the game from the floor. (shut down)

From what I've heard the last week or so, I will be very surprised if Hendeson doesn't end up at Loisiana Tech.
