Arrez Henderson

Have you watched him all week? I have. Maybe its a bad week or as GT mentioned to me earlier, maybe he is very tuned in on his D and is losing his aggressiveness on the other end, but he has just not shown a lot to me in regards to his ballhandling, penetration, and outside shooting. Not having a good shot from the outside is all fine and good, but you better have some quickness with the ball if you cant shoot the ball. He has mishandled the ball a lot. He doesnt always turn it over, but there have been many times he has batted it around under pressure and him or another Holmes player picks it up. He might get a drive a game, but with the way you guys built him up I would expect a little more than that, especially when the other guys around him are playing so well.

So basically he should try and do more on offense, maybe force some things? The kid works his tail off defending, rebounding, getting loose balls...you know, things that may help your Team reach the finals of the State tournament. He wants to win, and if he doesn't need to force the action, then why should he? Especially when the other guys are playing so well you say. Right there says it all.

The average offensive output from the guys he has guarded in the past 3 games: 10.3 PPG... Keep in mind these are the best offensive players these teams have to offer.

To sum it up a team player. Just wants the W.:thumb:

All this talk about Arrez and not taking 3pters, give me a break. He brings so many other special skills to the game so stop talking about it. Arrez is strong, great leaper, lock down defender, team player, leader, good student, all of those things mean much more than the fact that he passes up 3balls. Heck, passing up a 3ball when you might not be the best 3ball shooter can be considered a good thing in my book. Fact of the matter is he has been to 3 straight Sweet 16's, 2 straight Final Fours and a Championship game tonight. If he isnt atleast in the running for Mr. Basketball the whole decision process is a joke.

Actually it's 3 sweet 16's in 4 years, but great post. I got your point. :thumb:

I'm sure he much rather be playing for a state championship than averaging 25 a game and watching from the stands.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I will describe Arrez Henderson for you

He shut down SLONE. Than he shut down L C best player. and that in a bad week. He was clearly better than both. He is the best all around gaurd i seen in Lexington. A side note; he can shoot the three ball. Check the 07 9th region championship game. I beleive he hit 5 in that:sleep:::sleep::sleep:.

Henderson is a GREAT defender. His offensive skills are very average. He's a DII player.

I am not debating that he is a team player and very valuable to what Holmes does. He can do what he does all day and I will praise him. I like watching the kid play. He is a darn good high school player and any team would be lucky to have him.

What I am debating is YOU, the Holmes fans putting him up there higher than he should be. Defense is a wonderful asset, but it will only get you so far. He showed how he can shoot the three ball tonight against Mason. They were giving it to him and he made 1 of maybe 6 or 7. The only time he really got to the basket was on ball screens. He plays well inside and is one heck of a 6'1 post player. That a D1 guard does not make.

Many coaches have the philosophy that they should go get great offensive players, and they can teach them to play D. I think Pitino has made that statement before.

Arrez is an excellent player (by far the best in NKY) and a great kid. But lets face it, he would not make a great D1 player. There are two main reasons I say this. First, He is not tall enough to play D1. He is only 6 feet and he doesn't play the point. Second, Arrez doesn't have the best jumpshot. This will hurt him at the next level. I feel that he would make an excellent D2 player. If he were 3 to 4 inches taller I think he would be able to play at the D1 level.

Exactly. An undersized 2 guard better be able to put points on the board if he wants to play at the D1 level.

Arrez is an excellent player a UK good, I don't think for a scholarship, a walk on for sure. But an NKU or something he would be a starter. He really impressed me not only this season but in the sweet 16, especially the finals. Can leap out of the gym, and gets off his feet quick, has a nice shot-nothing great but nice. And above all else elevates the play in players around him by getting them involved. Whomever gets his services will be very good with him.

Arrez would be best served playing at the D2 level IMO but if the kid has a dream of playing Div 1 and there is a team out there that wants him then go for it brother.

I've enjoyed watching Arrez since his middle school days. He's a great player, that has had an awesome high school career. I wish him the best of luck where ever he chooses to further his career.

Reading those two sentences together, it sounds like there are 10 D1 players in the Sweet 16. Is that the case?
