  1. Well fastest in the 37th district would be really a none issure since Campbell County and Brossart, and Scott havent been in that district but for 2 years, this being the 3rd.
  2. It was intentional all the way, there couldn't have been a mix up, there is no catcher that automatically falls to his knees to block up just because he thought a curveball, which seemed to be the pitch, was called. You still follow it in with your eyes and glove, if he can't see the ball to do that he 1) doesnt even need to be recrutied for college and 2) needs not to be playing catcher any more because he wasn't even close to getting any type of leather on that pitch. Cross ups dont get missed by that much by a catcher becuase your first reaction is to "catch" the ball not just drop and put your head down.
  3. It did not hit the batters helmet I mean really, how many games of baseball have you been at you can easily here it hit the helmet, I am sure that the batter would know if it hit his helmet, he wouldn't be telling the runner to advance to third if it hit him in the helmet he would be trotting to first base. And if it even grazed like one thread on the helmet the catcher it still ducking down like he is going to body up a ball in the dirt. It's one of the dirtiest things in baseball to do and if it werent for him being a senior this year he should been suspended games next season for it. Good call by the college by taking away his scholarship because seems as if this kid has some ethical problems.
  4. I don't know why he is leaving but this was actually told to me by a very reliable source at the Lexington Hearld that there will be an opening this year at Dunbar.
  5. A great pick up at Cov Cath hiring this guy. Bob is a fantastic guy with an excellent work ethic. He will be missed on the baseball field, this coming from a rival foe from Campbell County, but still Bob is a wonderful guy and Is going to be great!! Congrats Bob and Congrats to Cov Cath.
  6. Scott had a good season, but lets not kid ourselves, they had a cake walk to the finals. This was clearly the year to be runner up in the 37th district, based on how the draw played out.
  7. I would say the same thing, just like a hall of fame college coach once told me " Dance with the lady that brought you to the dance, then worry about all other things later."
  8. It's wrong if they start scheduling this tourney around different days, it should always be in 3 consecutive days for unless there is weather for the simple fact that it won't totally prove whom has the best team (deepest) in the region to best represent our region.
  9. They will pitch Adkins and Adams becuase they HAVE to win. But in my opinion from the whole season and even during the District Adkins and Adams are second wrung compared to the Murray kid, in my opinion he is by far the better pitcher than the previous two. He throws strikes, but also has great off speed matched up with an average fastball that keeps hitters more off balance than what I have ever seen Adkins or Adams do. Tough to say who will win, but I think the winner of the Campbell county and Harrison co/Clark Co. game will be the 10th region champs without a doubt.
  10. I wasn't worried so much as to Silver Grove getting a 1 seed more or less a 3 way tie for a 1 seed between Campbell Co. Brossart and Scott. They would have to then draw out of a hat to see whom the number 1 seed was. But again they would have to mess up pretty bad for that to happen, but that is why you play the game.
  11. Campbell County hasn't clinched the number 1. seed just yet. They still have to play Silver Grove, which yes they are favored very heavily but as well all know things can happen, it is baseball. But good job by the camels and keep on winning.
  12. Oh yea and the bermuda grass, it will stay brown until roughly late may early June and then will turn green. It's no big deal, anyone that has been around turf lawn will tell you this, unless you put a solar blanket on it this time of year then it will green up. But until we get nice warm mid 70 in the days and warmer nights it will stay brown, its just dormant for the year and you can't do anything about it, its that type of grass. And like I said before anything that is green right now on that field should be pulled because its a weed and not bermuda grass, most likely crab grass.
  13. First off great Post by Leatherneck, couldn't have said it better myself. RedDevils, I have nothing to say about the arrogance you posses in the last post. To call the CCYFL a T-shirt league and act like the Red Devils is a premier team is just somthing to laugh at. At that age kids need to have fun playing the game such as Leatherneck said, its not about an ego driven coach and ego driven parent that will help a high school team in the future. Its about making sure the kid loves to go to practice every night, develops friendships and loves the game. I have known many of kids come from Red Devils and were top notch players while they were there, turn out to nothing or even quit in high school becuase they are just burned out. I myself being a Red Devil and playing at the high school had many thoughts of giving the sport up completely in high school, even though I was a starter and playing a major part of the minutes in each game. I was tired of the 6 days a week practices and making that games such a great part of my life, I had been doing it since I was 8 years old and was sick of it. I loved baseball and basketball because "They were coached by Parents" whom made it fun for us all every game, and it stayed that way throughout high school. When your son gets to be an age like myself you look back at your little plastic trophies and laugh, not really caring because quite frankly it was just a kid game that means nothing, I mean seriously its a $2.00 trophy. I cared more about the bonds and friendships I made thoughout the years that still have lasted today. And if thats why the CCYFL will do then I think its a great thing, while teaching the kids to play the game and also love the game for a life time.
  14. The tax money argument is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of in my life for any athletic field. Ok out of the 20 bucks that get taken out from their taxes for a school they contributed about 1.50 towards that field a year, not even enough to mow half of the football field, get real, most of the tax money for that school goes for educatoin purposes. The field is already over played on and the school is looking out for their kids first and foremost and looking out for their own teams first. If people don't like it then why not ask the board for a vote on getting turf. If these great red devil coaches that are now coaching for campbell county sees fit to have red devils on it then they would make a huge push for not only the red devils to play but they should make a push to the school board as well for wanting turf. Again nothing can get done unless you ask for it, and the biggest voices to be heard from up there is from the coaches on that staff. Its not just board memebers and such its the staff as a whole. Heck for UK basketball to get a brand new practice facility it took the coaches and athletic department as a whole to push for it, then it goes to the board. There is no difference here on this situation either, your coaches need to step up to the plate and ask for this project, get a vote on it and see which board members then say yay or nay to the idea and then make your judgements from there. The board is not in charge of coming up with ideas like that, they are there first and formost for 1)Academics 2) Laws and Rules then athletics would be a distance from all of that. I think if the idea was brought to them in one of their school board meetings that are public and then see if any action takes place. But if the coaches at campbell truly wanted this to happen then they would step up to the plate, its not the school boards job. Add into the fact that you have an AD at Campbell that doesn't know what is going on and has taken all athletics back at Campbell 10 years, its only going to get worse, and nothing will happen for major improvements for any of the kids or community. He is as tight on spending as anyone I have ever seen, his wallet has to have cob webs in it. Until somone gets up there that "truly cares" for the kids and the school program nothing will get done, because you need the confidence and backing of your AD as well. I don't care what things you do your only as good and as strong as your leader.
  15. And your saying that fundraising would have been $8,000 dollars off this one event? Are there luxury suites available at these games? Will Marvin Lewis, Pete Carrol, Bill Bilicheck be at this game as well, because wow I don't know how a youth team can make 8 grand in one game.
  16. Your backing a Coach that went 9-32 for a career at a then 4A school with an enrollment of 1,300 kids are you serious? Oh and the year he finally was let go he was 0-10 and you would keep him around? I sure hope your not a manager at some company or anything.
  17. Also for anyone from Red Devils to bash Campbell County for them looking out for their own league first is just moronic. Lets face it Red Devils back in the day use to be the only team in Campbell County and most of those kids went to play for Campbell County. The past 15 years a lot of Red Devil players have now went to differnt private schools, so why should Campbell put a feeder team that has a lot of kids not go to their school district over children that are already in the Campbell County School system and will be attending this school system for a long long time? It's like buying your kid a new toy but letting the neighbors kids play with it more than your kid does, it just wouldn't make sense and neither would letting the Red Devils take first dibs for a field over one of their own teams. My question is this, what has the Red Devils done for Campbell County in the past 10 years? You can easily bash the field that they have provided to you for free and their cost, so why not if you want the field to be nicer ask to go in and pay for upkeep to it. It's people and organizations that look for handouts and then complain about them when they have had a favor done for them that really have a messed up mind, it'r rediculous and abosolutely arrogant. Like posted before its about the kids playing games, not about an organization or some "legacy" that these Red Devil people think that they have. There is only one group of people that give a hoot about the red devils and that are the red devil people themselves, other than that no one cares and no one thinks about the team. By the way I am an Ex-Red Devil myself, and won some Super Bowls while I was there and its embarassing to hear the stuff I heard on here from some of the red devil people, the organization or well those involved with the organization have really changed over the years, and maybe thats why these coaches now coach for the Campbell County Youth football league, because they are back to what Red Devils use to be, somethign for the kids to learn to play ball, kinda like the Ft.Thomas League.
  18. First off everyone knows that Bermuda grass turns brown in the winter, really the only green spots on the field right now should be pullled because they are weeds, not grass. Secondly I do have to say I think its a pretty dumb thing to have Bermuda grass for a playing surface for a Northern Kentucky High School field, only one other school tried that here in NKY and that was Highlands, and we all know what they have went to now. I do beleive all athletic fields have went down hill in the past years such as the softball field that can't get right, the soccer field is harder than ever and lets not even start on a baseball field that use to be top in the region, and top in Northern Kentucky, also a gymnasium that has holes in the dry wall and a panel of dry wall falling out. So its safe to say whomever is in charge of grounds, i think its the Alexander lady, has been doing a very very poor job. Campbell has always been referred by many in Northern Kentucky as a "Hillbilly" school and in the past 5 years you can really see that coming to light. As for trying to bash board members for these things that can't be done. We all know that there has to be a vote on what things get done and what dont get done, so why not ask your board to vote on getting a new surface for the football field and see which ones are for and against it. It is very clear that some board members that are coming up for re-election very soon (I beleive this year) are totally against many things that others try to bring up in order to push the school forward in trying to become better. I know for a fact b/w the high school team, middle school teams, youth league, red devils, and band that field had roughly 55 events on it alone this year from the end of August until about the very first of November so in roughly 10 weeks there were 55 events, I don't care what grass you have or grounds crew you have your lawn wont keep up, anyone could tell you that. Heck pro fields only get at max with high school games etc. 15 games a year!!! Even pro baseball fields only get 81 games in 6 Months, only 30 more events than at campbell county but yet in 3 times as much time. The only real solution is to get turf, and I agree with this so that everyone can use it, but I know some board members are for it and some are against it, so go to an open meeting and ask whom is for and whom is against and see what your school board rep is for, because an election will be coming up soon.
  19. Wow 8-2 after 3 complete, not much pitching showed up for the camels tonight then huh? Who was on the hump for this game?
  20. I am sorry about that, it was a typo I meant 3. Either way though it looks good!! Now the big rivalry between the Camels and Stangs will add an extra log onto the fire.
  21. Well if the kid just shook his head without saying anything then I personally don't beleive the umpire should have said anything to him, maybe the umpire thought he made a bad call as well and was on the defensive. I wasn't there so I don't know what all went on but its a little rediculous if you ask me. It's sounds if an umpire is trying to press his power on a young man for shaking his head. There is no rule against that of any kind, and frankly what if he was shaking his head at the disbeleif that he didn't swing the bat and was upset at himself. I just think its a pretty pathetic thing if a kid is "tossed" for something like that, unless he was saying stuff too when shaking his head. I am all about not showing up the umpires and well actually I am an umpire myself and if all he was doing was shaking his head I wouldn't have said a word.
  22. Now that we got all the earned or unearend out of the way, an L is an L no matter what the earned runs are. Even though whom ever thought a walk was unearned please tell me your kidding me right? It's a tough way to lose a game and to lose a winning streak, not to take anything away from the camels but the competition during that streak wasn't that great either only facing one or 2 teams that have above .500 records and those two teams are only 1 or so games above .500, but at the same time the camels can start another one and hopefully gained some confidence after such a rough start. Just further shows how rough the 10th regoin is going to be this year. Still only 2 teams stand out amongst everyone and we all know who those two are, and those are the ones more towards the central part of KY.
  23. Here is my question, and maybe need a topic board for it. By why do area high school teams play kids up say freshman up jv or soph or juniors up varsity and then when their tournament comes around they bring them down. I mean really first it takes playing time away from the kids that have been busting their rear end all year for that coach and team to have somone just come down and play for them and also what good is it doing for the kid to come down from playing up? I mean its really one of the dumbest things I think a coach and system can do. And most of the time its these teams that dont win the tourney, but I just think its sad for some kids that have been playing all year. I mean if a frosh is on the frosh team and then another kid just comes down and takes his spot win or lose that kid gets to keep playing because they will go back up to JV or what not, where as the kid that has been playing all year down there is done.
  24. First of all for the umpires it is true that they can and some even do turn down games, but with this same rule coaches are allowed to turn down umpires as well if they want. But in the end if you want an ump as a coach then you get what is there. Now for the umps turning down games. I am sure some umps do turn down games such as some of the schools listed above, but is that wrong? I don't think so. They choose to do this to help out and get a little side cash, but they work the same hours as both you and I do, and then do this on top. So if I were an ump and been asked would you want to do a lesser schools game tonight, first off you got to think what time is that game? And on top of that with gas at $3.30 a gallon, is it worth my time even going over there to ump that game. Thats one of the reasons why there are such a shortage for umpires. Another is the fact that the "bullentin" posters and the "crowd" umpires along with the coaches give these guys so much greif night in and night out, simply put if it was such a great gig, then the fans who complain would be out there too, but they wouldn't be able to put up with the bickering. There is a shortage of umpires and a downfall in the talent with them becuase of people just like the ones getting on here talking about them, imagine, if your hot enough to get on here and complain I gurantee you did at the game as well, would you want to deal with that after working all day? Anyways, I dont think in my many years I have ever heard of a beechwood loss without its fans saying it was the umps fault, its never the players, and if they had good umps they would win every game. I mean really come on, if a kid earlier forgot to tag theres one of probably many reasons why you lost the game, so don't go pointing blame at a guy behind the plate.
