Way to early, since there are not enough games in the book, but thoughts?

I am going to say the when all is said and done, Ryle's JV will be at the top of this list. Of their 4 games played to date, they have 3 run-rule shutouts (Boone, Dixie, Brossart) and a tough last-inning loss to HC, who appeared to be a solid team and should certainly be on this top 5 list. Ryle and HC will meet again Monday night. I do think CCH and BHS have some very solid underclassmen talent, but many of those boys have moved up to varsity, leaving their repsective JV teams comparitively weaker. Ryle does not allow sophomores play on varsity and it tends to make their JV much stronger.

I would have to believe that Campbell Co. is as strong as anyone at the freshman level. The Camels don't have any freshman playing up and most other schools do. I'm not trying to say that is right or wrong, it is just a statment of facts. They have pretty solid pitching and some speed, to go with pretty good defense and some kids that can swing the bat. As for who else is going to be good, I have to believe Cov. Cath. will be and NCC should as well. The Camels have played Ryle and Dixie. Not to strong, although I know these two schools have boys playing up. I would also think Boone will be in there some where. That is about all I know,about the NKY freshman.

Brossart Freshman should be tough by the end of the season. They have a lot of kids who have great raw talent and Bobby Rowe's system is fantastic, I think it is too early to see how they can adjust.

I believe Ryle should be place 2. Ryle's coaching is always consistant and their teams always battle for the top team in NKY.

Pretty sure he's talking about Ryle's JV. Ryle's freshman team is struggling a bit this year. But it's early.

Agree, way too early as not nearly enough games played....however:

Would think RYLE is still the team to beat.....with traditionally tough CovCath and NCC JV programs being very good year-end and year-out would think they will be solid again this year. CAMELS beat Beechwood so as of now I give the edge to CAMELS over them. Honeslty many times it comes down to who's varsity is pulling guys up and when they do so.

With that said, I know the teams in last years frosh final, Beechies and Conner, had a number of 7th or 8th graders starting. Not as slam on the other schools, just a compliment on the upcoming talent pool and the JV and varsity schedule conflicts.

 

Now, to judge a frosh or JV team at this juncture is not possible. I know of numerous frosh that do not even play frosh ball in NKY until the tourny. The only true way to tell is during the finals and the varsity coaches allow their stud underclassmen to play down.

I know that Ryle has some kids (8th thru 10th) that could play varsity anywhere. IMMHO, that's why the smaller schools can compete... but that's another topic.

Keep in mind that there are at least 3 frosh from Cov Cath and 5 frosh from the Beechies that you will not see on the frosh field until the finals. :sssh:

Just wondering about your comment about Ryle not letting Sophomores play varsity. Are you really certain that rule is solidly in place? Image the last two years Ninth Region POY Maile and Faris attending Ryle and the coach not letting them play as Sophomores? Do you really think that would happen?

Good points Old Guy. Wagner, Hughes, Murray and Humphrey all played Varsity as Sophomores and all were starters. I am only assuming that the sophomores right now at Ryle would not see considerable playing time at the varsity level. Why would you have a kid sit the bench up on varsity when they could get many AB's and playing time on JV level??
