A lot of talk about Ryle's JV.... Holy Cross has beat them twice now and I haven't heard much talk about them

How can their JV be "too young" when it consists primarily of sophomores and a few freshman? And, besides this comment being incorrect (unless you think a JV team should consist of all juniors), they are too young for what? They are a good team. In fact, a very good team. They lost twice to Holy Cross this year because Holy Cross is an outstanding JV team, not because Ryle's JV is not good.

I think what skunk was referring to when he said that Ryle's JV is young is not necessarity the age of the kids but the JV experience level of the majority of the team. I have read alot on here that they had a pretty good JV team last year and I can only assume that most of those kids are up on varsity this year. I am thinking that there are not many players on this current team who were major contributors to that team, therefore, the team is inexperienced at the JV level. Most of the current roster probably played freshman only last year and are getting their feet wet now sort of speak. It is not a huge difference in level of play from Fresh to JV but still nonetheless an adjustment, especially if there are different coaches, signs etc. I do not doubt that the team has talent but I am venturing a guess to say that they are totally different teams last year to this year.

What team doesn't have mostly first year JV players? A JV team isn't supposed to have returning contributors.

Yes, most of Ryle's current JV squad did play freshman ball last year. But this was also the case last year when they only had a handful of returning sophomores that had played up as freshman. Ryle's current squad does have a couple of returning players that played JV as freshman last year. At the end of the day Ryle will have one of the top 3/4 JV teams in NKY this year.

Because they don't seed the JV Regional Tournament (it is a draw) you really only have to be playing like one of the top teams in NKY at the end of the season to have an opportunity to win it. Ryle will be one of those teams at the end to have a chance and by the sound of it Holy Cross already is.

This is a very good point. With guys being shuffled around early and what not you never know what will happen by the time the JV tournament comes.

I don't like that the teams aren't seeded at the end of the regular season for the regional tournament:irked:. With the draw format you could have two of the best teams play each other in the first round, such as Holy Cross vs Ryle. That would be a shame, whoever those teams with the best records at the end of the season may be.
