  1. Pre Season outlooks are going to be tough this year in the 10th but I still beleive it goes through Harrison Co. this year. If I were to rank this is what it would look like. 1) Harrison Co. just like UK in Bball I dont care what they have it will always have to go through them. Got great fielding, hitting and good pictching coming back 2) Campbell Co. -Are going to have some good pitching with a lot of depth. You will see one of the fastest outfields in years in the 10th region with this team. Only thing going to hold them back is going to be whether or not players are played in the correct postions and if they tire out in the end like they have done the past 2 years. There needs to be something done different to keep the players wanting more at the end of the season and even though they have plenty of seniors they lack seniors with a drive. 3) Clark Co. - Will have some solid players back this year. And like all other years they will be able to stroke the ball. What is holding them back will be depth in pitching which we all know you need in tournaments and another thing is the fact that the region will not be played at a small ball park something that favors them heavily whenever it is played at their place. But you always know they are a very well coached team and that goes a long way in HS ball. I think they will have a good run but might come up short, depeding on who they draw. 4) Scott - Going to return 2 good pitchers and still have to see what the hiller kid can do. I just dont know if he will be much of a factor. Problem for this team this year will be lack of depth 1-9 not in the pitching rotation but yet in the field. Pitching helps win games but at the same time you must have a good defense which I dont know how good that will be, I think it will depend on the night. And as far as offense goes I just dont think they will be that powerful on offense as well but again this is a team that could get hot late and if the defense is there and they get a little run support they will be tough. 5) Montgomery - I think that they won't have anything over powering but will be a solid team that if you don't show up to play you will be beat and somtimes badly. I just don't think they have all the tools this year to win a region but will be able to compete and stay towards the top. Left Out Brossart - not that deep and not that much talent, its going to be a long year I beleive for the stangs. You will hear about their success over the small single A schools, which their fans will try and say that's why they are going to be great, but when it comes to playing the bigger schools with talent they just will not have a enough. Mason Co. - Have been playing better but still lacking a go to player and really a deep team 1-9 to bring it every day. They are getting there and getting better year after year, but I still think they will fall short. Bourbon Co. - great coach, just after last years very un-expected down fall, there is something thats telling me something is going on down there that is not good. Hopefully they get it corrected because a 10th region without a contender in Bourbon Co. isn't a 10th region at all. We need somone to atleast give Harrison Co. a run down in that area. St. Pats - not much to say, just dont have a chance to compete for a 10th region title Pendleton Co.- will be in the 10th region tourney by default because heck its either them or bracken co. and I will take Pendleton over Bracken most of the time, especially this year. It will be a quick regional tourney for them, probably 5 innings.
  2. Even though I am not an HC fan I will agree and say Brandon Martin without a doubt. Adkins, Adams, Hiller, Woodruff are all good pitchers but still have more to prove IMO. I think they will give quality outtings but not over powering such as Martin. Cauffman for CC still has much to be desired as his FB might work in the JV level but it's nothing to brag about for the Varsity level, and also has many control problems which will be picked up on at the Varsity level and could lead to a few long outtings.
  3. LongtimeCoach, That depends on what it hits on the mound, if it just hits the dirt and bounces in but does not cross first its a foul ball. If it his the rubber, rosin bag, or spike cleaner then it is a ground rule double (same as if the ball bounces over the outfield fence)
  4. I don't think there is just one best ss in NKY this year. You will have a few and I mean a few like 3-4 that can play a solid bag but nothing outstanding. I mean in all honesty the level at all positions is down this year and has been in the past few years. What happend to the days of the Grogans and Rose from cov cath and the Schmidt at Harrison Co. those were some infielders.
