  1. Scott is off of there because they would be blown out of the water by either Harrison Co. or Clark Co. as many other teams in the 10th would be as well. I think some need to get off the "Scott" parade and get to reality for a bit, they might be an average to an above average team but don't compare yourself to Harrison co. thinking you should be named in the same breath as them right now, i mean really...
  2. Harrison Co. GRC other than that its all a toss up. I think we know though some teams that have seperated themselves. But it is still who gets it done at the end of the season, and I think its to early to tell. But those two teams are clearly at the top right now.
  3. I can say one thing, the camels might not be winning games right now on the varsity level and some may blame the coaching. But I will tell you this, that coach won't have any distractions on his team and does a great job of having his teams practice sportsmanship. I have heard he and along with all the other coaches that are under him take grades and off the field issues very serious. They have 0 tolerance for any kid whom can't get it done in the classroom or better yet, whom has behavirol problems which is more important than any win in high school or even the college ranks. Take a look at some athletes that had coaches just throw that stuff under the rug (chris henry, Pac Man Jones, both Vick brothers) I know i mentioned pro athletes there and there are many others that are in the same boat that never made it pro. At that level you teach a kid to be a man which helps them for their life, instead of just looking the other way to where when they actually become a man they have to be treated like a kid (ie. Jail Time) or losing jobs.
  4. I actually beleive it was 14-9 Campbell County. Rough game for both teams I had to leave before it was all over with but did hear from others it wound up being 14-9. That campbell county team sure can hit, but fielding is a little to be desired for, maybe havent played under the lights? Because it seems both teams had their fair share of troubles.
  5. So Camel 1505 your telling me that you should sit a kid down on the varsity team and give playing time to a kid who has been having not only grade but "other" problems off the field a chance. Are you serious? Why give innings to a kid whom you will never know will be there day today because of grade or trouble issues off the field? You will never get team chemistry with somone who has those problems. He is letting not only himself down, but his teamates as a whole down, not on the varsity level but on the JV level. A program is bigger than any 1 player, and right now it sounds that he is not being a player he is being a distraction. I will say this, he has the most talent out of many kids up there when you watch, but if he really wants to be special, and be a leader (which the camels need) then he has to get himself straight off the field first. You can't count on somone who might not be there day to day.
  6. If its such a tough district then how many regional baseball titles does that district have?
  7. Congratulations!! Sounds like a very admorable coach, person, and husband, great things always happen to great people!
  8. The program has been great it seems the past few years, its when they get to the big show that things just dont seem to get done. I don't get all the know how in the program but I know the past few years both freshman and JV teams always post great records and have really strong teams, but yet the same kids when they get to the varsity level seem to have a .500 record or there abouts and for the past 2 seasons never got out of a week district. Everyone always hears of some good athletes in the school and coming up, and see them playing well in the lower levels then for some reason at the top they seem to perform at a step back from where they use to be. As for what I have been hearing the whole reason many people are upset, are not from the "program" as much as being very upset at one level, the varsity level. Confidence should be with the players, because they are suppose to be good atleast as what I hear, its other things that people are talking about.
  9. The only reason I ask is because its very unusual for any team, even a high school team to already have complaints about a team when they havent even finished one week of the season, and well even though they are 0-2 and havent gotten through a whole week, these grumblings were already happening before the season started, it just seemed to me like things have got a little more sour when adding 2 bad losses on there. Just wanting to know what the deal is?
  10. Hearing there is a lot of un happy players, fans, and parents up in Camel Land, what is wrong with the team or what exactly is going on? I see they are at an 0-2 start against some good teams, but I have been hearing thats not at all what is making some upset?????
  11. It's way to soon to even think of what positions will be open and the "front" runners for the jobs. Almost all the coaches in the state are under contract still and will be until the end of the school year. Therefore they will not and cannot be hired at a new school until their contract is up. So there is no reason for this thread because all it is, is rumor. No facts at all except if there is an "opening" but as far as who will replace who that will have to wait until the end of May when most of the schools let out for the year. This isn't college or pro level where as soon as the season is done a coach can leave a school, most of the time they are teachers or administrators in a school district and are under "a contract" at the school they are employed in, and until that contract is expired they can't take another job.
  12. On the 10th region one you said "the Eagles" will be hosting the district and semi state this year under the Campbell County headline, just wanted to let you know. You had it right but it should be "The Camels" host the District and Semi State this year.
  13. I am not going to say slowing the ball down was a great thing to do for Holmes but I mean look at what happened when they did press, Mason county just diced it and got layups every time. You are not going to beat Mason with a press, they have to many options to handle the ball and honestly can see over top of any trap that woudl come their way, and can take guys one on one on the dribble so the press would be ineffective and the result would be what we seen tonight. Then the run and gun play if you watched the tourney produced several turnovers for Holmes which you cannot have against a good shooting team like the Royals (IE. Middleton, Miller, Settey) the more times you let them touch the ball the better chance that it will go in. It was a good game plan in my mind but lets face it the shots just didn't go down, if so they would have most likely won, but they had a few go in and out and honestly I think it came from fatigue. They usually shoot a little better than that, especially those 15 footers they were missing.
  14. Arrez is an excellent player a UK good, I don't think for a scholarship, a walk on for sure. But an NKU or something he would be a starter. He really impressed me not only this season but in the sweet 16, especially the finals. Can leap out of the gym, and gets off his feet quick, has a nice shot-nothing great but nice. And above all else elevates the play in players around him by getting them involved. Whomever gets his services will be very good with him.
  15. Good win today by Mason Co. But I would like to say what a great weekend for the Holmes Bulldogs. Those boys are top notch and many of them have a bright future ahead of them. Very impressed with their basketball abilities, not only shooting and the more visual things but as in Technical basketball knowledge. They really do a great job of being patient and never giving up. I was at the tourney all weeekend and was impressed with their passion and effort. To even come back and beat Lexington Catholic when being behind 19-4 at one point was amazing, and to almost win against Mason County was incrediable. It's just tough to beat Darius Miller, and honestly a few of those shots at the end that went in and out could have went down and we're talking about maybe a win, the final score definately didn't reflect the game. And I can see and hope to see Holmes back in Rupp next year, they have the talent coming back and deserve it with the way they play the game. A big hats off to both teams though, it was High School Basketball at it's finest all weekend. Mason did great finishing out the game by making free throws, a mark of a champion.
  16. I am not fully against Private schools, but I am against their practices. You read in the paper, and also some people are on "It is apart of Christianity to have people chose to attend a "private" school so that they shall get money to be able to afford to go to that school." I am all for letting kids go to a "private" or "Catholic" school. But what LCA did was flat out wrong. If you look at the numbers the two kids that were really brought up in that whole debacle would have only been eligible for close to $9,000 (the cost of their tuition combined), but yet recieved close to over $16,000. Tell me where they should get an extra $7,000 dollars to attend this school? All the "private" school advocaters want to cry saying that the KHSAA is trying to deny their right to a "private" education but at the same time these kids are not only getting paid to get an education for nothing, but yet getting paid to show up to school, that is illegal in high school and illegal in college, so really those kids need to be looked at for not being eligible for NCAA standards as well. I am a going memeber of a Catholic church and disagree with this even, if it was my church that donated all that money to those two kids I would be ticked. You mean to tell me a church is more worried about 2 star athletes getting an education to where they will give them 16 grand, over some family somewhere living in a shack starving, thats so rediculous. I am sorry but if the families can't pay to get their children to and from these private schools then guess what they shouldn't be going. I mean I would like to own a mansion and drive a bentley but I can't afford it so I just have to do without, its somthing called life.
  17. To say the calls always go Campbell's way in that gym is not true at all. Even last night there were a few questionable calls both ways. There is no way a team can get homered by officials in district or regionals, why because the school isn't in charge of hiring the officials. The officials are selected per experience and by the assigners, so there is no say by a school whom will officiate the games. I have seen my fair amount of games in that gym where I at times think the opposite of Campbell always getting the calls, but again its a little biased on my end, but I still don't think any team has been cheated by the officials in a district or regional game that I have seen, even if Campbell is or isn't in the game.
  18. Thats a pretty good one Homeless Camel. I hear they are hooking up the horse and buggy there in Paris if your going down 27, to help filter in a few stragglers to Montgomery County if anyone is interested in traveling along the Oregon Trail to the Regional Tournament.
  19. This is probably a Dumb question, but who is going to win it this year? My bet Mason County, just going out on a limb here haha. I just hate the fact its not being played at Mason County. It was always the best arena to have it in and plus its an hour drive for everyone but the royals which is pretty fair. The excuses of well its a home court advantage is way over played because all teams get great crowd support during the regionals and I dont care what floor you play on, when a team has Chris Lofton, and now Darius Miller, they are going to win period! I just think for a great tourney atmosphere and experience for the players The Field House is the only place it should be.
  20. The district is for Campbells' taking, its up to them to win it or lose it. I really don't think Scott can match up with the Camels at all. It could be closer than some think, but if the average camel team comes ready to play they will win by 8-10 if the above average to good camel team comes it can be 15+. Don't count out Scott, but in all hoensty its there for the taking for Campbell, all they can do is lose it.
  21. Campbell by 16, Scott is way over matched inside and out. Plus Campbell only gives up on average 49 points a game and only gave up 38 points the last game to Scott, no way they will give up 60. Scott has nothing to combat Campbell's defense, and plus the way Campbell shoots from the outside its like pick your poison in this game. Albrecht, Franzen and Nearl all 3 will have 14+ points. We know Scott will use the press against Campbell and that will be no secret good thing for Campbell they have been doing much better against it, not great at beating it yet which is still a wonder how its so tough to beat, but still are getting it over the time line. 1-5 Scott is outsized and out athleticized, and will not be able to take the D Campbell dishes out for a full game. Campbell 62 (after free throws at the end of the game) Scott 46
  22. First off If mason is hosting a regional tourney in 2009 they dont just have a whole lot of work to do on the field, they have to re-do almost everything which is a whole BOAT LOAD of work to get done. I am suprised they aerated it at all, they do a nice job of growing the prettiest dandylions though. As for Dixie's field, I have not been on it yet, but this past fall they were watering it whenever I drove past and honestly looks like there is some great potential there for a nice field. I think it should be ready to play on this year, as in the fall it looked as if it was in playing shape already.
  23. I trent maddox the little brother of Brent Maddox who I beleive graduated in 2002? If so he was a decent ball player and wouldn't suprise me if trent was just as good if not better.
  24. I think some should look from the outside in. If you truly follow 10th region baseball, and I mean truly follow it, it would be a no brainer the Martin kid at Harrison Co. is the best pitcher this year in the 10th hands down. I am not from Harrison Co. and am not a fan of Harrison Co. as many on here are not either, but to only be logic on this he is better than any other Varsity pitcher FROM LAST YEAR that is in the 10th. Unless some kid comes up from a teams JV team that might be better, I still rate Martin #1. Could I be wrong, no doubt. As most and any Pre-Season rankings and projections are, but if it were today that is how I see it, not being biased to the school or area in which I live.
  25. Even though the point is very good, I still think the one reason most people came out to play bingo was in fact to help support the team, I atleast hope so. I do feel that it could hurt some schools that might be close to a casino that relys on these bingo halls and such, but those who have to drive some distance to get there then I don't think they will suffer as much. What might be best to do is if there is a decline in the number of people attending, start doing the "stag" and "stagette" nights at the school where only a few times a year the school has their own type of gambling and games for adults to come and still get money off of that. Kind of like making it a special event, which more people would come too, and would possibly miss a night at the casino for. Just a thought?
